I had a great Veteran’s Day yesterday. I got to enjoy a meal at Applebee’s while watching my favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs, run their record to 7-1 after beating the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-85. Playing without Tim Duncan, the Spurs managed to have six players score in double figures to dominate the Sixers from start to finish. They were up by 18 points after the first quarter. Led by Danny Green, who hit 5-of-7 three-pointers, the Spurs hit 13-of-28 shots from behind the arc to make it two blowouts on the road in a row. The Spurs also blew out the Knicks on Sunday afternoon. In both games, the Spurs were up by 29 or more points at multiple times. It’s safe to say that the Spurs appear to be in mid-season form after just eight regular season games. For me, the victory over the 76ers was especially sweet because Veteran’s Day is the most important day of the year. I am a big fan of Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Martin Luther King Day, but Veteran’s Day is the biggest day. I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Vet. I am thankful to be here with all my wits and limbs. And, I thank all the veterans who may read this article for their service. I have told myself that I will not work on Veteran’s Day for the rest of my life. So, I slept in, then worked out some. I played tennis with my daughter, who was off from school, and later went for a bike ride. Applebee’s works perfectly for me on Veteran’s Day. I went for a free entree dinner with my wife and daughter. I mentioned to my daughter that it was ironic how Applebee’s doesn’t really serve anything with apples like Chili’s doesn’t really serve any chili. The Spurs won in a blowout and I had a great day. Veteran’s Day is a great day to watch sports. I’d like to see the NBA play a full day and night schedule like they do on Martin Luther King Day. I’m looking forward to Wednesday night for Military Appreciation Night to see the Spurs play the Washington Wizards in specially made military uniforms (see picture above).  In case you didn’t know, San Antonio is also known as “Military City.” The camo uniforms will be worn by an international contingent. It’s interesting to note that the Spurs have the NBA record for most foreigners on a roster, as they currently have 10. Although, two Americans modeled the unis when they were developed. Wizards-Spurs Preview

Tim Duncan wasn't on the court the last time the Washington Wizards scored 100 points against the Spurs in San Antonio. That's because his college career came to an end the night before when his 1996-97 Wake Forest team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. The Spurs have won 14 straight against the Wizards, including 13 in a row at home, and haven't allowed them...

Green, Spurs open big lead on Knicks early in route to blowout at the Garden

San Antonio Spurs forward Danny Green had made just six 3-pointers through six games in the 2013-14 regular season, prior to Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks. It only took Green 23 minutes to match his season mark with six 3-pointers Sunday as he returned to his home state of New York to go 6-of-9 from three point range, while also scoring in the post with a fade away...

Video: Behind-the-scenes making of the Spurs HEB Commercials

You know them, you love them. I am taking about the funny HEB commercials staring San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Kawhi Leonard. The recent round of commercials have Manu and Tony acting like rich barons eating steaks to Parker handing out salsa to his teammates including Matt Bonner. Check out the making of these wacky commercials including...

The New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith returned to the action Sunday night when his team hosted the last year’s runners-up, San Antonio Spurs in Madison Square Garden. Spurs focus in romp of Sixers, don’t cut ex-aide slack

The Spurs were off on another one of their patented tears early in Monday’s 109-85 victory at Philadelphia. Tony Parker was going all Cuisinart on the 76ers’ young defense, slicing and dicing his way to the basket. Danny Green was knocking down 3-pointers like it was June in Miami. The Knicks are missing the D in their Alphabet

It was suppose to be the big return of the 2013 6th man of the year award winner but in the end it was the Spurs who were celebrating. Not only did the Knicks lose to the Spurs, but they looked like the middle school varsity team from district 6 with their performance on Sunday. Most fans, even Woodson, thought that with the return of JR Smith, the team will be getting a major boost...
