San Antonio Spurs: Marco Belinelli Signing Grade

Analysis: The signing of the seventh year guard out of Italy is all about adding and replacing depth for the Spurs. This move might seem a strange one at first glance, seeing that they already have the dynamic Danny Green and an aging legend in Manu Ginobli at shooting guard, yet the Spurs see Belinelli as a contributor on a playoff team. He did it last season, despite a shooting percentage of 39.5%, as Belinelli played crucial minutes during the Bulls’ brief run in the playoffs. He was able to showcase a decent shot from beyond the arc and also a savvy veteran mindset, something that is crucial in the postseason and fits perfectly with the Spurs. The Spurs know they are aging and Belinelli will be seen as a good “add on” in their retooling for a championship run, as he is still quite young and this team needs more youth.
