Mark Cuban knew what he was doing when he said he would consider drafting Baylor center Brittney Griner. Underneath all of his attention seeking antics Cuban is an extremely calculated and smart business man. He knew when he spoke those words it would catch the attention of many people. Now the conversation is taking a life of it’s on with everyone who is everyone weighing in on the debate. Miami Heat forward Shane Battier is now the latest person to give insight on if he thinks it’s possible for a female to play in the NBA. “There’s no doubt that in our lifetime, there will be a woman NBA player.” “I don’t know if it’s Griner or if it’s someone who is 5 years old right now,” Battier told ESPN.com. “But we’ll see it. It’ll happen in our lifetime. Just the law of averages.” “Look, I’m 6-foot-8, 220 pounds and I guard [Indiana Pacers power forward] David West and [Chicago Bulls power forward] Carlos Boozer,” Battier said. “I lift weights twice a week and I think I’m strong as a 34-year-old man. And I struggle with those guys.” Will we ever see a female play in the NBA? Only time will tell. However I am of the beliefs that we won’t for the same reason the Battier pointed out. The physical shape one must be in to compete with these men of great girth and mass of muscles on top of muscles is something I don’t foresee a female being able to compete against without the assistance of steroids. If anything I can see a female point guard making it into the league, but that’s as far as I can imagine.  I believe it’s possible, but I don’t think Brittney Griner will be the one to lead the way, but you never know.
