The Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, and Orlando Magic all agreed in principle to a four-team sign-and-trade deal Wednesday night.Orlando will sign-and-trade Hedo Turkoglu to Toronto. Shawn Marion will be signed-and-traded to Dallas along with Kris Humphries from Toronto and Greg Buckner from Memphis. Toronto will also receive Antoine Wright and Devean George from Dallas. Memphis will receive Jerry Stackhouse from Dallas, Quincy Douby from Toronto, and cash considerations.Toronto is clearly the winner of this trade; acquiring a 6'10'' scorer in Turkoglu who creates mismatches all over the court and they improve financially for 2010. Wright and George both have expiring contracts and Toronto is able to keep their mid-level exception. They can possibly use that exception to add another piece to their already formidable lineup; Jose Calderon, Wright or rookie Demar DeRozan, Turkoglu, Chris Bosh, and Andrea Bargnani. This move could possibly move Toronto back into the East's elite and save them enough money to try and keep Bosh from leaving in 2010.Dallas may look good on paper after this offseason, but I still do not believe they greatly improved their chances at a title. They were completely overwhelmed in the Western Conference Semifinals by the more athletic Denver Nuggets.Their solution?Marion. Really? Mark Cuban is going to sign the 31 year old to a five-year $40 million deal. He is giving Jason Kidd a three-year extension, meaning he will be playing until he is 39! Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry are both 31, and Josh Howard will be turning 30 in April. They will also regret giving Marcin Gortat the mid-level exception like they gave Desagana Diop last year. The Mavericks will win 50 games next season, but they will not even come close to the Finals. I am sorry to say but Kidd and Nowitzki are not going to win a ring in Dallas.
