Los Angeles Lakers (15-16) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (25-8)

The Clippers-Lakers battle for Los Angeles is getting serious. Serious enough to ask Kobe Bryant about it. And seriuos enough for Kobe Bryant to laugh such a question off.
The real serious issue is that the Clippers are far and away the better team at this point of the season. With the Lakers struggling through all the changes on the roster and on the coaching staff, this is still a team coming together. The Clippers though are a team that feel very put together. They ran through a perfect 17-0 December and have a deep bench that could rival many starting lineups.
Of course that was before the calendar turned to 2013. The Clippers have lost two straight and for a championship team in the spotlight, that always seems to raise questions.
An easy way to fix that problem is to right the ship against the cross-hall rivals at Staples Center in a nominal Clippers home game.

As I noted in my summary of Kobe Bryant’s incredible duel with Chris Paul, the following dunk was just one of Mamba’s many statement plays from Friday night. Personally, I think I most enjoyed the Iverson-esque crossover he used to shake free from Matt Barnes and drain a clutch 20-footer… but the dunk is definitely a close second thanks in large part to the shock factor involved...
