Orlando Magic (2-0) vs. Chicago Bulls (2-1)
The Magic and the Bulls are down their leading players sponsored by adidas. Well one of them is injured and working to a return. The other one is off in La-La Land.
Yet, in the first week of the season, no team's play may be more surprising than Orlando. The Magic have a scrappy team that runs on missed shots, forces teams to get the ball out of the paint with a crowding, harassing defense and quick passing and cuts. This is a team that, as Glen Davis and J.J. Redick put it, has not individual agendas and plays together and plays all out all the time.
Of course, it is easier to do that at home agianst the struggling Nuggets and the young Suns. The Bulls and their defense and precise offense will be a much different story. Orlando will have many more challenges against Chicago.
Nobody believes the Magic's string of impressive wins are sustainable. Despite the 2-0 start, Orlando is expected to fade and become...
BEST OF MAXIM
MINNEAPOLIS The drama is three months behind them in Orlando, and maybe it's helped. The Dwight Howard-less Orlando team is 2-1, and early on, it's posed a bigger challenge than most would have imagined.
Yes, Glen Davis is the focal point of their offense. Yes, they're hardly deep. But the Magic have been solid early, especially in terms of 3-point shooting; they'...
Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah regrets his decision to shoot a 3-pointer against the Orlando Magic Tuesday night, as he tried to win Big Macs for fans at the United Center. Chicago-based McDonald’s is running a promotion with the Bulls. Fans can get a free Big Mac if the Bulls score 100 points during a win at home. The Bulls won 99-93. But Noah missed his 3-ponter with 3.8...
DeQuan Jones made his season debut Sunday night, scoring two points on one-for-three shooting. The 16 minutes were more of a cameo as Jacque Vaughn clearly felt more comfortable with Jones and the experience he had gained in the preseason and in practice.
Maurice Harkless should be set to join the roster and get his first court action very soon. Kyle O'Quinn has seen some...
Sadly, there was no write-in option for the poll on the Orlando Magic official team website asking fans who'd they like to be the primary backup point guard.I would have gone with Chucky Atkins...(Courtesy of The NBA Mistress)
Think back to 2006. George W. Bush was the president, the Seattle SuperSonics were still in the NBA and the two biggest stars in college basketball were J.J. Redick and Adam Morrison. Oh, how the times have changed.
Redick garnered most of the national Player of the Year awards and earned the ire of opposing fans as a Duke star, while Morrison captured the country’s heart and imagination...
I try to keep my Orlando Magic homerisms to a minimum around these parts because people complain about it, but one of the greatest moments of my life as a sports fan came this summer when the Magic got the Philadelphia 76ers to take Jason Richardson. That’s not a knock on the 6ers, by any means. My beef was always with Otis Smith for giving J-Rich that stupid 4-year deal before...
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Luke Ridnour had 19 points and five rebounds, and Greg Stiemsma got the rout started with six straight points to end the third quarter in a 90-75 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.
Stiemsma finished with 12 points and five rebounds, and Derrick Williams added 14 points and six boards for the Timberwolves, who are 3-1 for the first time since 2001...
On a night when the nation turns its attention to the presidential election, the eyes of some NBA fans turned their attention to the Windy City. The surprising 2-0 Orlando Magic traveled to Chicago to face the 2-1 Chicago Bulls, minus Derrick Rose.
Orlando, lacking a major star on the roster has relied heavily on team work and streaky shooting. Chicago, missing Derrick Rose until...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Don't look now, but a week into the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves lead the Northwest Division -- even without injured stars Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. Minnesota improved to 3-1 with a 90-75 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at Target Center. The Timberwolves are off to their best start since Kevin Garnett pushed them to a 6-0 record a decade...
Dwight Howard is gone and two of their starters have already been injured, but the Orlando Magic are off to a perfect start.
They'll try to keep it that way when they hit the road for the first time.
Orlando goes for its first 3-0 start in three years on Tuesday night when the Chicago Bulls try to avoid their first set of back-to-back home losses since that same season.
