If Sullinger had come out last year he was an unquestioned lottery pick, most likely top 5. Before the news came out that NBA teams had redflagged him because of back issues he was once again projected in the lottery. Now the poor guy can’t even get an invite to the draft. NBA executive Stu Jackson, who handles the invites, said that Sullinger was “likely to go in the teens or the 20′s.”
With back to back picks at 21 and 22 the Celtics could be left with a tough decision to make: pass on Sullinger or take a flyer on a guy that has no business going that late in the draft.
The kid has his limitations – namely the lack of an outside game, but he was an absolute monster in college and plays much bigger than his 6’9 height.
This Celtics team needs a true power forward going in to the future and while Sullinger isn’t the run and gun type of player that would mesh well with Rajon Rondo’s style of play, he could provide some inside toughness to a Celtics team that seemed t...
