Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott told reporters Wednesday afternoon that rookie point guard Kyrie Irving would  be out for at least seven to ten days and could be done for the season after aggravating his sprained right shoulder Tuesday night as Cleveland lost to the San Antonio Spurs. The “Cleveland Plain Dealer” reported that Scott told members of the media that his starter hurt his shoulder again after he ran into a pick set by Spurs forward DeJuan Blair. The leading candidate to win this season’s NBA Rookie Of The Year Award originally injured his shoulder on Friday night after he collided with Milwaukee Bucks big man Ersan Ilyasova. The Cavaliers held him out of Saturday’s contest against the New York Knicks, however after feeling fine in practice on Monday, the rookie was back in the starting lineup Tuesday night. Irving had an MRI performed on Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic which showed that the 20-year-old guard had re-injured his shoulder; which led to the dec...

Spurs Will Provide Formidable Challenge For Cavaliers

I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that Kyrie Irving will be back in the starting lineup for the Cleveland Cavaliers (17-33, 12th in the East) tonight. The bad news is the Cavaliers are playing the San Antonio Spurs (36-14, 2nd in the East). It’s funny that the Spurs can continue to fly under everyone’s radar. Hardly anyone seems to be talking about them or taking...

Box Score: Spurs 125, Cavaliers 90

Another game, another loss. This one in particularly ugly fashion. The Cavaliers played bad offense and even worse defense. There are no moral victories and no rays of sunshine in this loss. Pretty much everyone in the wine and gold played poorly and the score reflects it. You have to accuse a team of quitting, and let’s face it, this roster is not very good at all, but this team...

Now is no time to worry about all this Cavaliers losing

The Cavaliers looked awful last night at home against San Antonio. They allowed twelve Spurs players to score in the game, a guy they cut for Manny Harris went for a game-high 19, and the Cavaliers leading scorer (Antawn Jamison, 15 points) also posted a team worst +/- of (-26). They lost the game by 35 points (125-90), and in the end it wasn't even actually that close really...

Short Handed Cavaliers Must Make Most of Opportunities Against Toronto

Can Tristan raise his game and his team in Toronto? It doesn’t seem like that long ago. It was the day after Christmas, a time  of hope, inspiration, and holiday cheer. And on that Monday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers walked from the swirl of the unknown into reality. We didn’t know what to expect of this team. Kyrie Irving wasn’t the Irving we know today. He was just an...

Scouting the Cavaliers: If Irving doesn’t play, Spurs have big advantage

Tonight, two teams headed in opposite directions square off as the San Antonio Spurs (36-14) travel to Cleveland, Ohio to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs come in with a seven-game winning streak, while the Cavaliers also have a 7-game streak, a 7-game losing streak that is. The Spurs are coming off a fresh nine-point win over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday in which the Spurs’...

Injuries mean rough times ahead for Cavs

Just when you think things can't get any worse for the Cavaliers, they do. They announced on Wednesday they will shut down guard Kyrie Irving for a week to 10 days after he aggravated his sprained right shoulder. It comes at a time when the Cavs have lost nine in a row and had their heart and desire questioned by coach Byron Scott. They fell at Milwaukee on Wednesday 107-98...

TORONTO (AP) -- Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott was ejected from Friday's game at Toronto after a brief but fiery argument with the referees. Bucks 107, Cavaliers 98

Monta Ellis scored 16 of his 30 points in the final 5 minutes, helping the Milwaukee Bucks fend off a Cleveland team missing Kyrie Irving for a 107-98 victory Wednesday night. Brandon Jennings scored 19 points, and Ersan Ilyasova added 18 for Milwaukee. The Bucks have won four of their past five to close within a game of New York for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference...
