A person familiar with the situation says Tracy McGrady will likely sign a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday night because signings can't be announced until the new NBA labor agreement is ratified.
The 32-year-old McGrady is a seven-time All-Star, but a series of injuries have turned him into a part-time player. Last season, he averaged 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Detroit Pistons, his third team in the past two years.
The signing of McGrady would likely signal the Hawks don't expect to re-sign their top player off the bench, Jamal Crawford, who has drawn plenty of interest from around the league.
The deal with the Hawks was first reported by ESPN.
