Sam Hinkie and the 76ers aren’t working on buying out any player contracts according to an NBA source. The most likely candidate for a buyout is journeyman center Kwame Brown who has picked up the $3 million option for next season (he also received $3 million in 2012-13). Brown 31 appeared in just 22 games for the Sixers last season averaging 1.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 12.2 minutes. He didn’t play in the final 30 contests after former coach Doug Collins who wanted Brown to be a Sixer said last summer that he expected Brown to be a starter. It’s hard to imagine the Sixers wanting Brown who is not known for being a hard worker or leader back with so many young players on the roster. The Sixers could waive Brown or try to buy him out for say 90 percent of his salary. Hinkie the new GM is in the process of re-working the Sixers’ roster.
