Tony Parker is running on fumes. More specifically adrenaline and champagne after spending the bulk of his short summer break helping France claim its first European basketball championship. Yet despite complaining of fatigue after the final of EuroBasket 2013 little more than a week ago Parker said during Monday’s media day event at the team practice site that he’s ready to go on the verge of his 13th NBA season. “I feel great” said Parker who will open training camp with the Spurs tomorrow in Colorado Springs. “I’m so excited to start with the Spurs and try to win a championship. I get another opportunity to get Timmy out with another championship. So I’m ready to go. I love basketball. I’m very passionate about it. The way I play I’ll be fine.” Parker has been playing for virtually three straight years with NBA campaigns sandwiched around the 2011 and 2013 EuroBaskets and the 2012 Olympics. The toll might have come due near the end of last season when Parker began to break down after the most consistent stretch of his career. Parker was off for roughly three weeks after Game 7 of the Finals before joining Les Bleus to begin preparation for EuroBasket. In addition to resulting in an experience he described as once-in-a-lifetime — ”Obviously it was worth it” he said — the quick turnaround had added benefits. “It was good therapy to think about something else” he said. “It was just different. So now I’m fresh and ready to go for this season.”
