vs Toronto Raptors (4-10) at Boston Celtics (4-8) Wednesday, January 18 7:30 PM ET Regular Season Game #13, Home Game #8 TV: CSNNE, SNET, NBA-LP 756 Radio: CJCL, WEEI TD Garden Referees: Derrick Stafford, Karl Lane, Tommy Nunez, Jr This is the first regular season meeting between these two Atlantic Division teams. They met twice in the pre-season with the Celtics winning both of those games. With the Celtics 3rd in the division and the Raptors 4th, they are fighting for the privilege of not being the worst team in their division. Both teams have lost 5 games in a row. The Celtics have lost their last 4 at home after winning their first 3 home games. The Raptors are 2-6 on the road. The Celtics have yet to beat a team with a record over .500 but the Raptors aren't anywhere near that discussion. Right now, the Celtics just need a win and the 4-10 Raptors could be just what they need. This should be a win for the Celtics. If not, t...

Your Morning Dump... Where Rondo's injury isn't serious

Reuters Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Team officials said Rondo had X-rays taken on the wrist, and those results came back negative. Rondo is being listed as day-to-day by the Celtics. After seeing Rondo take such a hard foul, head coach...

Boston Celtics getting blocked far too often

Jermaine O’Neal catches the ball in the paint with an opening to shoot. He gathers himself to leap (or something like that) for a layup; the crowd begins to brace itself for a rejection.  As O’Neal leaves the floor (at least high enough to fit a driver’s license underneath his sneakers), Serge Ibaka begins his ascent, climbing higher, higher even, and O’Neal...

The Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett Will Play Better

The stats of one Kevin Garnett tell a very grim story of how his season has gone. The once dominant player is averaging career lows in scoring with 13.3 points on only 46 percent shooting. He has had some foul shooting nights recently like his 5-19 performance against the Thunder, the 4-11 shooting against Dallas, and the 4-11 shooting against Chicago. The result has left many in...

Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo Answers The Call Offensively Early

The Boston Celtics were in the midst of the worst losing streak of the new “Big Three” era. The big part of the losing streak was the team got off to some of the worst starts offensively in those games. A team cannot score 33 points in a half and fall behind double digits and expect to win. The Celtics needed someone to step up and push the issue on offense early. Against...

Boston Celtics Jermaine O’Neal Has Another Solid Game

The Celtics got a great game from JO against the Thunder. JO was a solid defensive presence blocking a shot and recording a couple steals. He also made life difficult for Thunder scorers Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook by making the lane to the hoop vanish with his tall body and long arms. He also rebounded well with eleven rebounds. JO also chipped in with 12 points. It is too...

Rivers Talks Injuries and Trades

In NBA news today that affect the Celtics, the Wolves have decided to offer Kevin Love a max extension (so you can't probably forget about him in Boston) and the Thunder signed Westbrook to a max contract, so Rondo fans can breath a sigh of relief. Ainge's patience has limits

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge used the brief window following the end of the NBA lockout to feverishly prepare for one final championship run with the aging Big Three.

Oklahoma City Thunder 97, Boston Celtics 88

The Celtics only shot 39.1% from the floor which was a big reason for the loss last night.  Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Mickeal Pietrus (14 points, 2 rebounds and 1 blocked shot), Kevin Garnett (12 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocked shot), Jermaine O’Neal (12 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals...

Time Has Passed Boston’s Big Three

by DJ Dunson / @dunsonchecksin There comes a time in the life of most children when they realize that their parent or parents can’t take care of themselves anymore. They get weak, fall easily and develop brittle bones. This plight describes the 2012 Boston Celtics. The Big 3 reached its peak in 2008 and 2010, but they are now tumbling down a dangerously steep mountain. That mountain...
