I hope I can write talking with a legend as a headline again in the near future, but another legend will never match the excitement of meeting NBA Hall of Fame member and one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest players Walt “Clyde” Frazier.
Frazier, an SIUC alumni, came to Carbondale for a tribute and reunion of former SIUC coach Jack Hartman and was nice enough to take 15-minutes out of his Friday schedule to meet with the local media. The entire interview I was thinking: It was a great idea to stay in Carbondale a little while after graduation.

As a Saluki, Frazier,66, was an NCAA All-American and led the 1967 squad to a NIT championship, where he was named MVP. After leaving SIUC for the pros after his junior year, he became a two-time NBA champion with the New York Knicks in 1970 and 1973, a seven-time NBA All-star, a seven-time All NBA team selection and has his No. 10 jersey retired in Madison Garden.
