Tar Heels' Tyler Hansbrough named Sporting News POY, UNC will retire #50 jersey

The Tar Heels have had a good run this season, even without PG Ty Lawson for 6 games North Carolina has ascended to the #1 ranking again. The story today is all about Tyler Hansbrough, who was named unanimous ACC POY and Sporting News POY, while UNC reported that they would retire his #50 at the end of his career. Hansbrough joins an elite group of UNC players to have their jerseys retired and in the front row in the Dean Dome. Psycho T has averaged 23.1 ppg and 10.3 rebounds, both ACC leading statistics. Only Jack Cobb, George Glamack, Lennie Rosenbluth, Phil Ford, James Worthy, Michael Jordan and Antawn Jamison have had the numbers retired. Congrats Tyler, now go win the ACC Tourney and the National Championship.

  • TC, Beasely may be the best talent, but it's a college award and UNC has been better because of Hansbrough compared to KSU with Beasley.
