While the "experts" talk about the importance of the three point shooting of Michael Redd and Mike Miller, consider this statistic about Team USA's 112-69 victory over Venezuela: Team USA outscored Venezuela 57-22 during Kobe Bryant's 16 minutes of action but were only up 55-47 in the 24 minutes that he did not play. In fact, in the first half Venezuela outscored Team USA 23-22 when Bryant was on the bench.

  • What u bull.... statistic man. They won. That's al that matters. Half, maybe more, of these guys never played international ball thats why i expect more in the next game.

  • The point of the statistics is that Venezuela is a mediocre team that Team USA would have apparently struggled to beat without Kobe.
  • We need wins like these to keep the ball rolling! Keep the foot on the gas and don't look back!
  • Hopefully Team USA will continue to win but I was not overly impressed by how the squad looked when Bryant was not in the game.
  • Team USA did something they always do, which is beat up on Venezuela. I'll wait on my opinion until they play a viable opponent.
  • I agree that we need to see how Team USA does against stronger teams; in fact, that was one of my major points--Venezuela is not that good but Team USA only looked dominant when Kobe was on the court.
