That didn’t last long. Per Adrian Wojnarowski, the Phoenix Suns and big man Greg Monroe have parted ways.

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to a contract buyout with Greg Monroe, league sources tell ESPN.

Monroe, of course, would move to Phoenix in the trade that sent point guard Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks. But that’s not all. He’s in the last year of his three-year, $51 million contract, he doesn’t have three-point range and he can’t play defense. But after 48 hours, he will be an unrestricted free agent. But is there a fit out there?

On the season, Monroe is averaging 10.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists. These numbers are a far cry from his final four seasons in Detroit, when he averaged 15.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. That player might not exist anymore, but it doesn’t help that he’s had such an uncertain role on rebuilding or struggling teams.

However, it looks like multiple contending teams will be in. This includes the Boston Celtics, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Pelicans have strong interest in Monroe and are expected to be at or near the top of his list, according to league sources.

The Pelicans, of course, just lost DeMarcus Cousins for the season. But Monroe is NOT the player Cousins is. As for the Celtics, adding  decent scorer off the bench is beneficial. There’s no pressure to add, however. The Celtics aren’t running away with the east, but they’re still in control.

But does the big man fit?
