The Lakers dropped their season opener at home against the Mavericks on Tuesday, and then proceeded to lose last night’s road game against the Trail Blazers. They are now 0-2 after going 0-8 in the preseason. In opening night’s game against the Mavs, Dwight Howard only hit three free throws out of his 14 free throw attempts, and Steve Nash only managed four assists and seven points on 33% shooting from the field. 99-91 loss. Not a great night. In Game 2 against the Trail Blazers, Dwight Howard finished with 33 points and Kobe Bryant finished with 30, but it wasn’t enough to stop Portland from winning 116-106. Damian Lillard, a rookie point guard for the Blazers, showed LA up – he dropped 23 points and dished out 11 assists, a double-double. Steve Nash got injured and left the game after getting kneed in the lower left leg. When was the last time the Lakers won a game? May 18, which was when they beat the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. Two games later, thoug...

Dwight Howard blows first dunk attempt

The biggest story of the NBA off-season was the Los Angeles Lakers acquiring arguably the best center in the NBA, Dwight Howard. Pairing Howard with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash has the Lakers primed to make a run at the Finals this season. However, early in the first quarter of Tuesday night’s season opener against the Dallas Mavericks, Howard got the ball in great position...
IMPROVEMENT NEEDED

Nash frustrated with performance

New Lakers point guard Steve Nash expressed frustration following the team's sub-par performance in its season-opening loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday.

Nash out another week with leg injury

Steve Nash has a small fracture in his left leg and will be out of the Los Angeles Lakers' lineup for at least another week. The Lakers announced the results of the point guard's MRI exam Saturday. Nash got hurt in a collision with Portland rookie Damian Lillard on Wednesday night. He missed the Lakers' 105-95 loss to the Clippers on Friday night, dropping the Lakers...

Lakers Injury News: Steve Nash Suffers Leg Injury in Loss

It's been a while since the Los Angeles Lakers have won a game.  They lost every one of their preseason games and have now lost their first two regular season games.  To top things off, they saw Steve Nash go down to an injury - hopefully a minor injury. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Nash suffered a lower leg contusion in the second quarter of last night...

Steve Nash hurts left knee against Blazers

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- In just his second game with the Los Angeles Lakers, veteran guard Steve Nash injured his left knee against the Portland Trail Blazers. Nash appeared to bump knees with Blazers rookie guard Damian Lillard late in the first half Wednesday night and limped off the court. He was helped to the locker room. The Lakers initially reported the injury was not serious...

Nash Suffers Left Leg Contusion

Steve Nash bruised his left leg late in the second quarter of the Lakers' 116-106 loss to the Blazers.

Magic Day Video: Darrel Armstrong with the steal and dunk

I had to consult with Crossover's second in command, Phillip Rossman-Reich, for the video for Orlando Magic day. Apparently, former Magic guard Darrel Armstrong is adored in Magic nation. Yeah, who knew? But as Phil told me the reasons why Darrel is so loved is because of his heart and hustle. Something the 2012-13 Magic squad is going to need considering the team is left in...

Steve Nash's Bruised Knee, Kobe Bryant's Strained Foot Are Hardly Reasons Enough to Bury Lakers Already

We do not come to bury the Lakers. We do not quite come to praise them, either. Now that everyone knows the Lakers are not going to go 82-0, the most popular NBA parlor game has become dismissing their championship hopes entirely. To be sure, their start has been awful, both on paper and on the court. Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard entered the season with injuries concerns and...

Clippers-Lakers Preview

The new-look Los Angeles Lakers may be without Steve Nash when they try to avoid their worst start in 34 years. Nash is listed as doubtful for the Lakers, who have dropped their first two games heading into Friday night's matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers haven't started 0-3 since 1978, the season before they drafted Magic Johnson with the No. 1 overall...

Mavericks 99, Lakers 91

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Lakers discovered on opening night that four superstars does not a team make. The Dallas Mavericks, meanwhile, discovered life without their one star isn't quite so glum. With Dirk Nowitzki out after knee surgery, Dallas marched into Staples Center and spoiled the Lakers debuts of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, taking a 99-91 win Tuesday. It...

Starting 5: Heat raise a banner

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Banner Day for Heat Miami got its championship rings and raised its championship banner for opening night. The focus though after the rings were handed out was squarely on ring No. 2 (not three, not four...). The Heat blitzed the Celtics and made the new-look Celtics look...

Next NBA Fashion Trend: Man Purses?

First it was the lensless hipster glasses, now it appears that man purses could be the next big fashion trend among NBA players in 2012-2013. At least it appeared that way on opening night in Laker Land when two big named Lakers showed up to the Staples Center with a “murse” in tow. Kobe Bryant (who is no stranger to weird fashion) carried his on a chain while a Bill Nye-looking...

The NBA Is Back… Somebody Tell The Lakers

The NBA is BACK baby and so are the daily notes.  This morning, fantasy owners were greeted by their players with a trick or treat.  Oh LeBron James (26/10/3/2, 2 3PM), a snickers bar!  Thank you Rajon Rondo (20/7/14, 9-14 FG), I love butterfingers!  Kyrie Irving (29/6/3/0/1, 3 3PM), I can take two?!!  Uh Steve Nash (7/2/4/0/1, 1 3PM), a f*cking apple?  Are you joking me?...
