Found April 27, 2012 on NBA 24/7 365:

Michael Jordan’s 2011/12 Charlotte Bobcats probably would’ve been better served had the 49-year-old owner suited up and played a few games.  This team desperately needed help that they never got, as evidenced by the 23-game skid on which their season ended.  The ‘Cats finished with just 7 victories, equating to an all-time worst winning percentage of just .106.  To add to the embarrassment of passing the 9-win (.110) Philadelphia 76ers of 1972/73, their final loss, which came by 20 points at the hands of the Knicks, was nationally televised.  And with that the Paul Silas Facepalm Timeline may be completed…

As you can see, the frustration of Coach Silas reached its peak around the 16th of April.  He had been involved in a locker-room shouting/shoving match with Tyrus Thomas on the previous night, and the ensuing loss to the New Orleans Hornets, a team Silas may have thought his team could compete with, left him in a state of such dismay that the traditional facepalm wasn’t even enough.  He resorted to the seldom-seen paperface–the ultimate indicator of an epic fail.  When the season wrapped up on Thursday night, Silas no longer had the will to force anything to his face.  He simply bowed his head and waited for the end.  You were wise not to watch, Paul; your team bricked 12 free throws.

The Bobcats lost their last 23 games by a total of 357 points for an average margin of -15.52.  Their average margin on the season wasn’t much better at -13.9.  No team scored fewer points (87 per game), and only three teams allowed more (100.9).  The ‘Cats ranked dead last in a bunch of other categories as well, including opponent points in the paint (48.3), opponent shooting percentage (51.7%), shooting percentage (45.5%), and both offensive and defensive efficiency.

While the Knicks didn’t allow the Bobcats to dodge infamy at their expense, they are one of the seven teams Charlotte beat this year, and one of the three they beat on the road.  Their company?  Toronto and New Orleans.  Also, New York is the only playoff club that was beaten by the worst team ever.  They may improved, but they’re still the Knicks.

Paul Silas (assuming he isn’t fired and doesn’t quit) and his Bobcats are hoping for better days..er..Anthony Davis in their near future.

Charlotte Bobcats: Perfect example of how not to run a franchise

I wonder will the Charlotte Bobcats get to put an asterisk by this season’s win total since their record-setting season of futility didn’t happen during a standard 82-game season? Bobcats End Season Lacking Dignity, Commas in Their Fan Appreciation Ads

Look at it this way, Bobcats fans: at least “.106 winning percentage” doesn’t make for a very catchy derisive chant.  Not only is Charlotte officially the worst team ever, with 23 losses to close out the season (23—the Irony-Meter’s on 10), one month-old Bobcats fans everywhere are wondering if the Bobcats will ever win a [...]

Dunk of the night: Amar’e Stoudemire over Bobcats Tyrus Thomas

The New York Knicks have secured the 7th seed in the playoffs. With that honor, they’ll be headed down to Miami to take on the Heat. But Thursday night they were in Charlotte. As Bad As It Gets; Bobcats historically awful

The Knicks tried to help old nemesis and current Bobcats owner Michael Jordan. They sat out Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, and Baron Davis. They even dusted off the decaying corpse of Mike Bibby and played him just under 37 minutes. The Bobcats still lost by 20 at home and finished with the worst winning percentage in NBA history (.106). Their final record was 7-59. The Bobcats...
