Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Lakers drop their third straight Another game of "Kobe vs. the world" with Bryant takine 30 shots and no one else taking more than 12. We've said a lot about the Lakers so we'll keep this one brief. We can sum this up with Pau Gasol's big stat: 10 assists. If Pau's your assist guy, then the Lakers offense needs to change. If the Lakers truly want to run their offense through Gasol, then he can't have LA's third lowest usage rate for the game. If Kobe took five fewer shots and Gasol got those touches, this might have been a win the way Pau was passing the ball. But this is part of the struggle of a new coach and new system in this lockout shortened year. 2: Roy Hibbert's fantastic season I'm not sure how many people are really paying attention to Roy Hibbert's play this season. His stats aren't eye-popping at 13.9 ppg and 9.9 rpg...

Roy Hibbert Not Planning On Signing Extension By Wednesday

It has always paid to be tall. Take it from me, a guy who isn't. In today's NBA though, where players like Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, and even a step down to the Brad Daugherty's of the world are long since retired, it really pays to be tall. Especially if you can couple even a little bit of skill with said height.  Indiana Pacers big man Roy Hibbert has always...

Roy Hibbert breaks his nose, beats the Lakers, hangs out with famous comics, eats waffles

We've made no attempt to hide our respect and admiration for NBC's 'Parks and Recreation' here at Ball Don't Lie. To this author, it's the best and most fully realized out and out comedic half-hour on TV, and the guest appearances from former Indiana Pacer Detlef Schrempf and current Pacers like Roy Hibbert only add to our appreciation of the show. The fact...

Games To Watch, Week Five (1/23-1/29)

Pau Gasol Unhappy With Role in the Lakers’ Offense?

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Indiana Pacers last night, their third straight defeat. And Pau Gasol sounds like he’s less than thrilled with the way he’s being used on offense. Per ESPN: “[Brian] Shaw came back to Staples Center Sunday as a Pacers assistant, a man with a little extra motivation and a lot of insight into the Lakers players. Some things haven’t changed...

Pau Gasol Passes Like Ricky Rubio

There must be something in the water, since all shaggy-haired Spaniards seem to have a preternatural ability to find an open teammate without having to actually see them. A cutting Gasol drew both his man and Andrew Bynum's, and a nifty little over-the-shoulder dump to Bynum was pretty and pretty effective. More »

It's serious times for Lakers and Clippers
