Just days after Dennis Rodman’s  ’triumphant’ return from North Korea, the White House has come out to attack the ‘wining and dining’ trip. As reported by ESPN  the White House says that the North Korean leader should be more focused on the well-being of its citizens than with ‘celebrity sporting events’. The statements were made by White House spokesman Jay Carney, just days after Rodman told the media that Kim Jong Un’s one desire is for Obama to ‘call him’. The White House does not intend to meet Un’s desires, as the Washington made it clear that the shaky relationship with the nation is still unchanged. Rodman is the highest profile to celebrity to visit the current leader since the passing of his father Kim Jong Il, and he was accompanied by some of the Harlem Globetrotters. Rodman said the following about the North Korean leader “He’s a good guy to me,” Rodman said, adding, that “as a person to person, he’s my friend. I don’t condone what he does.” It’s clear that it will take more than just Rodman’s eccentric personality to heal decade’s worth of anguish between the two nations. The human rights issue in North Korea is something that needs to be addressed, and Rodman did say he does plan to make a 2nd trip to ‘find out what’s really going on’.
