As I watched game 1 of the second most discussed series of the NBA Playoffs, I saw a Thunder team that had matured and was finally ready to make a serious run in the playoffs. The Thunder did not get the production they expected from Kevin Durant during the first 59 minutes but, a game-winning shot makes everyone forget about what happened earlier in the game. Durant rose up and made an incredible shot over two defenders to give the Thunder their game 1 victory. We cannot bypass the fact that Dallas played a remarkable game and Dirk Nowitzki showcased what got the Mavericks their Larry O’Brien trophy last season. What is different this year? The Thunder have learned how to finish in close games. Russell Westbrook was instrumental in keeping Oklahoma City in the game when Durant was unable to knock down shots.
