Man, talk about bad-timing. After the San Antonio Spurs were fined $250,000 for having their star players rested in a game against the Miami Heat a few days ago, this photo of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were released of them pretending to shoot an impersonation of NBA referee Joey Crawford in the head during a Halloween party. Well, once David Stern finds out about this, I don’t think it’s going to look pretty. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker Pose With Guns to Head of ‘Joey Crawford’ on Halloween (Photo)

A little mischief — if that’s what this is — could cause a lot of trouble. Spurs teammates Tim Duncan and Tony Parker used the recent Halloween holiday to show their feelings about NBA referee Joey Crawford, a much-criticized figure in the league’s officiating landscape. In a photo that surfaced in the last couple of days on Reddit, Duncan and Parker can be seen holding guns...

Is David Stern Fair to Punish the Spurs?

(Image Source: Photobucket) The San Antonio Spurs receiving the “substantial sanctions” statement from David Stern last night seems puzzling. With just over a year until retirement, Stern continues to lay down the law by making slightly questionable decisions which keep adding up. The Spurs resting Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli, and Danny Green against Miami rattled...

David Stern says Spurs will face sanctions for sending players home

Popovich, Stern both slip up in Starter-gate

MIAMI Had the Miami Heat lost Thursday, perhaps David Stern would have fined them. Or maybe somebody else would have. Itd have been embarrassing, Heat center Chris Bosh said of possibly falling to Spurs Lite. The coaches probably would have fined us. In a very bizarre night in the NBA, the Heat prevented it from becoming even more odd by defeating undermanned San Antonio 105...

Popovich Looking Out For His Team, NBA Mad...

((HT: WOAI-TV)) Everyone, including the Commissioner of the NBA David Stern, seems to be getting bent out of shape about the idea of San Antonio Spurs head coach looking out for his team come June... Except here at the HQ... We were listening to the very sly, sports talk radio network late last night when their overnight host was throwing "bricks" at the Spurs...

Spurs to play without Duncan, Parker, Ginobili

MIAMI (AP) -- San Antonio is playing at Miami on Thursday night without Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green, who were sent home by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to rest. Duncan, Parker and Green are starters. Ginobili is the team's top reserve. Popovich says the decision was made when he saw the schedule, and that it had nothing to do with facing the Heat. Thursday...

Cuban agrees with Stern's fine for Spurs

Mark Cuban has never been one to see eye-to-eye with NBA commissioner David Stern. But when it comes to the biggest rival the Dallas Mavericks, it's safe to assume Cuban follows the old saying of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Before Saturday's game against the Detroit Piston, Cuban let it be known that he agrees with the 250,000 fine Stern leveled the...

Tim Duncan dunks on Marc Gasol

Who said Tim Duncan can’t play anymore? During the Spurs game against the Grizzlies Duncan showed that he still has something left in the tank. Duncan received a pass outside the lane, then dribbled towards the basket and then he dunked on Marc Gasol. He just put Gasol on a poster.   Follow me on twitter @ScottBasketball  http://twitter.com/#!/ScottBasketballAlso like the Roundballchat...

David Stern vs. Gregg Popovich

So originally, the bigger story here was the fact that the defending “champion” Miami Heat barely  pulled out a win against the Washington Generals…I mean, the San Antonio bench. 105-100….at home. But then enters David Stern. See, Gregg Popovich is a hall of fame coach, one of the greatest ever. And he knows that, and acts accordingly. Generally never answering to anybody...

Tim Duncan posterizes Marc Gasol with one-handed dunk (Video)

Despite being 36 years old (or 50 in NBA years), San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan can throw down a nasty dunk still.During Saturday night's Memphis Grizzlies/San Antonio Spurs affair, watch as Tim throws down a nasty first quarter poster dunk on Marc Gasol:

NBA to sanction Spurs for sitting stars

NBA Commissioner David Stern says the San Antonio Spurs will be hit with ''substantial sanctions'' for their decision to send four regulars home before their game in Miami on Thursday night. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green were sent home by San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich, who cited a desire to get them rest at the end of a long road trip...

Spurs need extra quarter to overcome third quarter setback, hand Grizzlies third loss

For a game taking place on the first of December, it sure felt a lot like the first of May and that had nothing to do with the warm weather in San Antonio. “It was definitely playoff intensity,” Spurs guard Tony Parker said after scoring 30 points in a game that went to overtime against the team with the NBA’s best record. It took an extra period, but the San Antonio...

Brandon Tierney weighs in on Popovich resting the spurs, nails it

Brandon Tierney on the Spurs resting: "Greg Popovich is paid well to position his Spurs for a title run, and keeping (mostly) old wheels fresh is part of that equation. Conversely, David Stern is... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

NBA fines Spurs $250,000

The NBA fined the San Antonio Spurs $250,000 on Friday for leaving four players home to rest before their game Thursday night in Miami against the Heat.
