The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to have trouble winning games if they don't have players on the court.  Of course, they'll have players on the court, but they have been missing starters.  Last night, the Wolves were without three players - Nikola Pekovic, Brandon Roy, and J.J. Barea. According to Jon Krawcynzki of ESPN.com, Brandon Roy hopes to play Friday, but it doesn't seem likely.  Pekovic and Barea should return soon, but they don't have an exact date.  The team as a whole has six players currently injured.Roy, is battling a sore knee.  This is especially troubling considering his history.  Roy breifly retired because of continued issues with his knee.  Now, he is hoping to return soon, but he understands the unpredictability of a knee injury."Since it is my knee, we all know they're not 100 percent," Roy said. "Anytime I have something in that area, it's always a little concerning. I just try not to think about it that much and just try to get better. Coach and the team they all tell me to just keep taking my time. Nobody's putting any extra pressure on me."The Timberwolves, surprisingly, are 5-2 on the season.  Even without six players, they have managed to win games.  That will be difficult to maintain with the litany of injuries they've suffered.  The team should get Pekovic, Roy, and Barea back soon, and they'll need them. No one expected Roy's comeback to be easy

I didn't hurt nothing, just a lot of pain. I'll see how I feel tomorrow."He hurt nothing...

Howard, Timberwolves a convenient match

MINNEAPOLIS Oh, maaaaaaan.Josh Howard laughs. It's the only possible reaction to the statement he didn't want to hear, the lead-in to a question about how difficult it must have been to wait all these months for a team.Josh, you've been in the league since 2003"Oh, maaaaan."Josh Howard has been around for a while. Wolves' Love on track to return in December

MINNEAPOLIS December is a hot word around the Timberwolves locker room. It's a pretty empty place right now, in the bowels of the Target Center, with six Minnesota players currently injured.
