The sports birthdays for April 25 include Jacque Jones, Darren Woodson, Dave Corzine, Tony Phillips, and the Big Fundamental Tim Duncan. There was one athlete that was larger than life, literally, that was born on this day. I am talking about none other than former Connecticut Huskies point guard and Chicago Bull Khalid El-Amin. As a Pitt fan I couldn’t stand this guy because he kept beating Pitt and he was a brash Mo’Fo’. Here’s a video from one of his more famous comebacks from his time at UConn. Tim Duncan has a monster dunk in game three of Lakers-Spurs series

All I have to say in response to the following clip is; not too shabby for a 37-year-old. That’s right, the elder Spurs center Tim Duncan (otherwise known as the “Big Fundamental”) has struck again. This time, Duncan’s slam dunk wrath was collectively felt by the Staples Center during an absolutely huuuge 1st quarter slam in tonight’s game 3 Lakers-Spurs series matchup...

Popovich: I'll retire when Duncan does

Is the San Antonio Spurs dynasty about to come to an end? Not if you look at their current playoff match-up, which sees them up 3-0 in their first round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers. But comments Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich made to the San Antonio Express-News on Friday indicate that the man-in-charge knows when he will step away from the bench. When talking...

Did Duncan get cheated out of DPOY award?

San Antonio Spurs fans haven't been too happy since hearing the news that Marc Gasol and not Tim Duncan won Defensive Player of the Year for the regular season. Gasol received 212 points and 30 first-place votes to edge Miami's LeBron James, who had 149 points and 18 first-place votes, the NBA announced Wednesday. The 7-foot-1 Spaniard averaged 1.7 blocks and...

Spurs on verge of sweeping Lakers after dominant Duncan performance in Game 3

“(I’m) feeling healthy. (I’m) feeling good.” That was San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan after posting a dominant 26 points, nine rebounds, and block in his teams rout of the Los Angeles Lakers in Staple Center 120-89, to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.   How bad was the 31-point loss for the Lakers, who were without all of their starting guards and had to use...

Popovich Reiterates Plan To Follow Duncan Into Retirement

Gregg Popovich reiterated his oft-stated plan to follow Tim Duncan into retirement. Duncan, 37, has given no indication that he plans to retire soon. “He’s a mentally unique individual in that he’s able to sustain the year-round workout regimen, both physically and (diet) wise,” Popovich said of Duncan’s resurgence. “He has an unbelievable feeling of responsibility for...

Dwight Howard has massive block on Tim Duncan

In tonight’s game 3 Lakers-Spurs match-up, Lakers big man Dwight Howard reminded us all of why he was voted defensive player of the year on three separate occasions. How so, one may ask, did Mr. D-12 pose this friendly reminder? Enjoy the clip below to find the answer to said question as Dwight Howard rises up to block a Tim Duncan drive early in the 1st quarter. Note the distance...

Gregg Popovich Says He’ll Retire When Tim Duncan Does

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich drafted Tim Duncan out of Wake Forest in 1997 after the Spurs jumped ahead of the Boston Celtics in the lottery. The rest is history, the two have created a ton of history and will always be joined at the hip.  If you tell Popovich tell it, they’ll be joined at the hip when they both choose to walk away from the game also. According...

Duncan's steady Spurs put Lakers on the brink

While the Los Angeles Lakers have been a jumble of injury, inconsistency and general weirdness throughout their tumultuous season, Tim Duncan's San Antonio Spurs have spent yet another year as the model of NBA efficiency as they grind out wins with their usual dominance. It's not tough to guess which team has the other on the brink of playoff elimination - particularly with...
