Top NBA free agents available

It's expected to be a wild NBA offseason as NBA free agency opens. Several star players are on the market, as well as some championship-caliber role players who could make the difference in future seasons.

24. Patty Mills, PG

A key bench player for the Spurs over much of his career, Mills averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 assists in only 21.9 minutes last season. Is it time for Mills to graduate into a starting role?

23. James Johnson, SF

Even while playing almost solely off the bench in Miami this past season, Johnson averaged a career-high 27.4 minutes and 12.8 points per game. The journeyman could convince someone to give him starter's minutes going forward.

22. Taj Gibson, PF

Gibson had a solid year between Chicago and Oklahoma City, averaging 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He was used as more of a role player with the Thunder, and it remains to be seen if Gibson will garner a starting role next year.

21. Ersan Ilyasova, PF

Coming off a whirlwind season in which he played for the Thunder, 76ers and Hawks, Ilyasova averaged 13.1 points per game and played 82 games. He should have plenty of suitors after a solid season.

20. Dirk Nowitzki, PF

It seems likely Nowitzki will finish his career in Dallas, though it's certainly not written in stone after declining his option. He averaged only 14.2 points per game last season, his lowest total since his rookie season.

19. J.J. Redick, SG

A valuable piece of the Clippers' offense, Redick averaged 15 points and shot nearly 43 percent from three last season. He led the league by shooting better than 47 percent from three in 2015-16.

18. Dion Waiters, SG

Waiters has struggled to stay healthy recently, playing only 46 games for the Heat this past season. However, he averaged 15.8 points per game while on the floor.

17. Andre Iguodala, SF

Iguodala has played off the bench in Golden State over the last three seasons, but he averaged nearly 20 points per game early in his career with Philadelphia. If the Warriors are unable to retain Iguodala, he could be looking at a starting role elsewhere.

16. Zach Randolph, PF

Randolph has been in decline in recent seasons for the Grizzlies, but he still averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds this past season while playing only 24.5 minutes. Entering his age 36 season, Randolph still has plenty left.

15. Derrick Rose, PG

Rose simply hasn't been able to stay healthy, but he did averaged 18 points per game while on the floor for the Knicks in 2016-17. After firing Phil Jackson in New York, Rose's future team is very much up in the air.

14. Pau Gasol, PF

Gasol's production fell off last season as a role player in San Antonio, but he still averaged 12.4 points and 7.8 rebounds while playing only 25.4 minutes per game. His championship experience is also valuable.

13. Serge Ibaka, PF

Playing 79 games between Orlando and Toronto last season, Ibaka averaged 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The former Thunder power forward is just entering his age 28 season.

12. Rudy Gay, SF

Gay's consistency has been impressive, even with the lowly Kings. He averaged 18.7 points and shot well from the field.

11. Otto Porter, SF

A restricted free agent, Porter has shown consistent improvement in his four seasons with Washington since leaving Georgetown. The upside is still huge for the former third overall pick, averaging 13.4 points and 6.4 rebounds at age 23 this past season.

10. Danilo Gallinari, SF

The Nuggets can ill-afford to lose Gallinari, who averaged more than 18 points for the second straight year.

9. Jrue Holiday, PG

Holiday had another strong year at the point for the Pelicans with 15.4 points and 7.3 assists per game. He shot over 45 percent from the field as well.

8. Jeff Teague, PG

Teague has averaged more than 15 points per game in four consecutive seasons and had a career-high 7.8 assists per game for the Pacers in 2016-17. He'd be a welcome addition as a clear second-tier point guard.

7. Paul Millsap, PF

A great player in the paint, Millsap averaged a career-high 18.1 points per game last season, while also contributing 7.7 rebounds per contest. He's been an All-Star in all four of his seasons with Atlanta.

6. George Hill, PG

Hill is coming off an injury-plagued season, playing only 49 games, but he was terrific when on the floor. The point guard averaged a career-high 16.9 points per game and should have an active market this offseason.

5. Blake Griffin, PF

Griffin hasn't been the most durable player in recent seasons, but he has been consistent when on the floor with more than 21 points per game in each of his last four seasons. The former Clippers star has failed to make the All-Star team in each of the last two seasons, however.

4. Kyle Lowry, PG

Toronto can't afford to let Lowry get away, but it's a distinct possibility. He played only 60 games last season but averaged a career-high 22.4 points per game.

3. Gordon Hayward, SF

Boston has been rumored to be connected to Hayward for months, though it remains to be seen where the former Jazz star will end up. He averaged a career-high 21.9 points per game in 2016-17.

2. Stephen Curry, G

Curry's return to Golden State is almost considered a formality. The sharpshooter has made four consecutive All-Star appearances, leading the Warriors to two championships.

1. Kevin Durant, F

Durant finally got his NBA title in Golden State, and the Warriors aren't expected to let him get away without a fight. The feeling seems to be mutual for the star forward, who could look to win multiple championships.
