Top ten guards in the NBA

Posted December 21, 2008 on cpark11's Blog:
A compilation of the best guards in the league. Please let me know if I missed any, because I probably did.

  • 1
    Kobe Bryant

He is still the best perimeter player in the NBA for three reasons: 1. in addition to his scoring he is still dropping dimes 2.remains an above average rebounder for a guard, 3. No question Kobe is the best closer in the game, it doesnt matter what you do you cannot stop him once he decides to end it

  • 2
    Chris Paul

The best point guard in the league, simply put without his playmaking ability the Hornets are the same level as the Grizzlies

  • 3
    Dwayne Wade

He is back to 2006 NBA finals form and its no coincidence that the Heat beat the Nets when he scored 43 this week, and Wade will continue to win games for the Heat

  • 4
    Chauncey Billups

Nuggets record before acquiring billups: 1-3 Nuggets record after: 16-7 Enough said

  • 5
    Joe Johnson

Like Kobe Johnson is a closer, unlike Kobe Johnson has quietly become one of the best players in the NBA, The Hawks owe a large amount of their succes to his lights out shooting and great leadership

  • 6
    Deron Williams

There is a reason Paul Millsap has been so good replacing Carlos Boozer and that reason is Williams toughness and playmaking ability, by no means should he have been picked ahead of Paul, but they are pretty close in ability

  • 7
    Manu Ginobili

You could say Ginobli is just a benefactor of Popovichs system but, personally I feel like the reason Tony Parker has become a superstar is because of the space created by Ginobli's stretching the floor

  • 8
    Steve Nash

Nash's window of oppurtunity for a title might be getting slammed shut by Steve Kerr, but there is no question he has gotten several teammates very large raises with his assists and Dallas is still searching for his replacement.

  • 9
    Devin Harris

Speaking of which, excuse Mr. Cuban, remember that kid you traded for Kidd, yeah Devin Harris, He has scored over 40 multiple times and has the Nets front office thinking about other things than 2010 thanks to his play

    Brandon Roy

He would be higher in this list except for the fact that im not sure if he is the guy you want taking the shot at the end of the game, He has been tremendous but something about him makes me wonder

  • You dont want BRoy taking a shot at the end of the game??? You are joking right? EFF in SG's he is ranked 3rd. I honestly can say I would rather have BROY take the shot at the end of then anyone else on this list. I see BRoy being over Joe Johnson.
  • Damn right B-ROY should be higher on this list. 52 is all I'll say.
  • Listen, I said I dont want Broy taking the shot at the end of the game because he hanst been playoff tested, Kobe has rings, Joe Johnson pushed the eventual champs to seven games, im not saying hes a horrible choker im saying hes an unknown quantity
  • Well he's not unknown around these parts. GO BLAZERS!!!
  • Im willing to chalk a little bit of it to my East Coast bias
