Toronto Raptors: Finding A Starting Small Forward
By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…
The Toronto Raptors have an excellent young team and assuming they resign Kyle Lowry, have a very talented Big 3 of DeMar DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas and Lowry to build around for the long haul. They also have very talented role players in Terrence Ross, Amir Johnson, Patrick Patterson and Greivis Vasquez, but they have a big need; a starting small forward. That role belonged to Ross for the majority of the season and he is a very talented young shooting guard, but he proved in the playoffs that he should in no way be starting for a playoff team and as he and DeRozan (All Star) are each shooting gaurds, he would be better coming off the bench.
There are 2 ways for them to find a starting small forward; free agency or trade. If you have read the site recently, you know that I think they should spend 40+ million luring Greg Monroe from the Pistons. Resigning Lowry will cost them about 10
