This past Monday Tracy McGrady announced his retirement from the NBA and as soon as he did the debate began. Should the talented yet injury plagued 7-time all-star and 2-time scoring champion be inducted into the Hall of Fame? According to McGrady he’s put up the numbers to get the honor. H/T: For The Win “I think my numbers match up with some of the guys that are in the Hall of Fame,” McGrady said. “Whether or not I get in or not, it really doesn’t matter to me. I’m a guy from Auburndale, Florida (with) a population of 10,000 people, grew up in a pretty bad neighborhood, so to me, I’m Hall of Fame just by making it through my career. That’s Hall of Fame to me.” What a wonderful perspective McGrady has on the situation. Whether he’s inducted into the Hall Of Fame or not (which I think he will be) overcoming circumstances that would seem impossible to most and sustaining a 16-year NBA career void of off-court controversy, is certainly commendable and Hall of Fame worthy on a much larger and more important scale.
