Portland Trail Blazers
New York Knicks
NEW YORK -- Nicolas Batum scored 26 points and rookie Damian Lillard continued to turn heads as the Portland Trail Blazers ruined the season debut of New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire on Tuesday night. Four players hit double figures for Portland, which topped the Knicks 105-100 in a New Year's Day game at Madison Square Garden. Lillard starred in his Garden debut, scoring seven of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, including a key three late. LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and 14 rebounds, and J.J. Hickson scored 18 for Portland. Carmelo Anthony scored 45 points for the Knicks, and J.R. Smith added 28 points and 11 rebounds, but Stoudemire looked rusty in his first game back after knee surgery. The Knicks also watched Jason Kidd and 3-point specialist Steve Novak get held scoreless. Stoudemire scored six points and grabbed one rebound in 17 minutes, missing his first five shots from the field. The Blazers' 18-4 run to start the fourth quarter gave...

Amare Stoudemire is back, but the Knicks probably aren’t too thrilled about that fact.
Despite getting one of the league’s top offensive players back from injury, New York was doing just fine without Stoudemire. Led by Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith in the forward’s absence, the Knicks got off to a hot start and had Madison Square Garden buzzing on a nightly...
Contending teams have been known to play poorly every now and again. As steady as a squad can be, no one can be perfect. That's why it wasn't worth getting up in arms about the Knicks' feeble effort in the first half of Friday night's game against the Kings. New York made sure such a fluke didn't last the entire game, as the Knickerbockers charged back with all...
After missing the entire season so far, Amare Stoudemire is expected to make his season debut tonight for the New York Knicks. Stoudemire has been out because of knee surgery he underwent in the preseason. The Knicks are beat up, so getting Stoudemire back could be a nice lift for them.Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports says sources have told him Stoudemire will make his debut...
While rookie hazing isn't incredibly terrible for NBA players compared to other sports, NBA rookies still have to go through some public humiliation.Check out New York Knicks rookie Chris Copeland who had to wear some pink pajamas during the team's return to NYC from their West Coast trip:(Courtesy of Teamswish Instagram)
New York Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire will make his season debut against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, according to Yahoo! Sports. Stoudemire, who had surgery on his left knee in October and has been practicing with the D-League's Erie BayHawks, is ready to go after recently rejoining the Knicks. The post Woodson and Amare at Practice: 1/2 appeared first on Knickswag - A New York Knicks Blog - News, Rumors, and more!.
Explain this. First of all it’s the NBA and players at that level should know the most basic rules. Secondly, how do three referees miss the call after the player dribbles, stops and picks up, dribbles again and scores. Maybe Amir Johnson of the Toronto Raptors has found an exception to the rule and chose [...]
As I pointed out in today’s Starting Lineup post, Amare Stoudemire’s return to the floor could’ve gone better. That said, it could’ve gone worse, too. While it would’ve been completely unreasonable to expect a player to sit out 30 consecutive games and come back to dominate, it wouldn’t have been unreasonable to presume STAT would need more than a game or two to regain...
Good news Knicks fans. Amar'e Stoudemire will make his season debut tonight agaisnt the Portland Trailblazers.
It will be an exciting night to see Stoudemire back on the court for the Knicks and he will become a factor this season.
I am assuming he will come off the bench tonight unless Carmelo Anthony can't give it a go tonight coming off his knee injury.

The Atlanta Hawks ran Mike Woodson out-of-town after they were swept by the Orlando Magic in the 2010 Playoffs, but Woodson has been in New York since taking over for Mike D’Antoni late last season. You can certainly count Stoudemire amongst Woodson’s supporters, as he is reportedly the first coach to teach Stoudemire defense.
The New York Knicks have sputtered recently, losing three of their last four with defense largely to blame.
Though Amare Stoudemire's return is grabbing attention, New York may have to look elsewhere to shore up that end of the court on Thursday night as it hosts the red-hot San Antonio Spurs, one of the league's best offensive teams.
The Knicks (21-10) still own an impressive...
