LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 13 rebounds, Luke Babbitt hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers and the Portland Trail Blazers overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 118-112 in overtime Monday night. The Blazers trailed 97-79 with 5:17 left in regulation, but stormed back to tie the score and sent it into overtime on Babbitt's 3 with 22 seconds left. Portland never trailed in overtime. Damian Lillard scored 24 points and Nicolas Batum added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers, who finished a road trip with two straight wins. Ben Gordon set a franchise record with eight 3-pointers - all after halftime - for the Bobcats, who dropped their fourth straight game. Gordon finished with 29 points to surpass 10,000 for his NBA career. Charlotte had a chance to win at the end of regulation but Kemba Walker's drive and fallaway jumper from the baseline didn't fall. The Bobcats wanted to get the ball to Gordon for the last shot, but he was well covered. Walker penetrated, pump-faked and got a good shot off that didn't go down. Walker finished with 22 points and 17 assists for the Bobcats. Byron Mullens added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Charlotte led most of the game before J.J. Hickson gave the Blazers their first lead at 63-61 on a fast-break layup with 4:17 left in the third quarter. But it was short-lived as Gordon began to heat up. Gordon, who came in shooting 45 percent from 3-point range, made two 3s - drawing a foul on one for a four-point play - to give the Bobcats a 75-70 lead at the end of the third. Charlotte carried the momentum into the fourth quarter opening with a flurry, scoring the first 12 points with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist adding six during the stretch and Gordon hitting two more 3s. But the Blazers began chipping away as Lillard scored 16 points after halftime. Charlotte shot 58 percent from the field in the first half, but only led 54-51 lead at the break. The Bobcats hit 13 of their first 18 shots from the field. The run included a pair of highlight reel plays, including Mullens driving down the lane and leaping over Aldridge for a one-handed dunk. A short time later, Kidd-Gilchrist drove in from the right wing and slammed one home with two hands with authority. Walker had 17 points in the first half with five assists, but was fairly quiet the rest of the way. The Blazers stayed close behind Aldridge's strong play in the paint where he scored 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Charlotte's Gerald Henderson returned after missing 13 games with a foot injury, but did not start. Henderson played only 15 minutes and scored five points.

Dunk of the night: BJ Mullens bangs on LaMarcus Aldridge

The Charlotte Bobcats have already won more games this season than last year. While they didn’t win Monday night’s game against the Portland Trailblazers, BJ Mullens certainly had one of the plays of the night with his dunk over LaMarcus Aldridge.   Mullens is having the best season as a pro,  averaging career-highs in points [...]

Byron Mullens Flying Dunk on LaMarcus Aldridge's Face (Video)

Check out ya boy Byron Mullens of the Charlotte Bobcats flying over top of LaMarcus Aldridge and dunking all over his face last night.  This is a seven footer I might add.  Never seen anything like it.  Aldridge didn't seem like he wanted to go for a block and settled for trying to take a charge, but no go on that.  The dunk was good to go and it clearly sits at the top of...

Byron Mullens Dunks All Over LaMarcus Aldridge, But Bobcats Still Lose (Video)

The Charlotte Bobcats have not had much to celebrate in their nine-year existence. They have posted only one winning season and gave their fans (what few of them there are) reason to get excited earlier this season when the ‘Cats won six of eight. Since then, somebody must have reminded them that they are the Bobcats, because they have lost four straight. With that in mind, we...

Byron Mullens Dunks All Over LaMarcus Aldridge

Byron Mullens tossed LaMarcus Aldridge on one of the more nasty posters we have seen this year. Wait, what? You heard that correctly. During today’s game between the Trailblazers and the Bobcats the seven-foot center out of Ohio State took flight from inside the free throw line and soared over Aldridge to complete the one-handed jack hammer. Quite the athletic play from the...

Byron Mullens Posterizes LaMarcus Aldridge With Early Dunk Of The Year Candidate

Last night, Byron Mullens (better known as B.J. to you college basketball fans) had what might be the best dunk of the NBA season so far. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Wait, that dorky, weird looking white guy had the dunk of the year?‘ Yes and you should watch it. Now. Mullens tosses up a three from the top of the key. The shot ends up bricking horribly but Mullens was in...

Why Blake Griffin Should Not Be An All-Star

Now in his third season, Blake Griffin is considered a superstar in the NBA and has been an All-Star in his first two NBA seasons and is expected to be one for the foreseeable future. But despite the fantastic dunks and the excitement he brings, he simply is not playing at an All-Star level this year and has actually regressed. Despite this fact, he is one of the league’s most...

Trail Blazers-Pacers Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers' bench has helped the team pick up its scoring - and get back into the win column - after a rough start to their longest trip of the season. Ending that stretch with another strong effort could be asking a lot with the defensive-minded Indiana Pacers up next. Portland looks to close out its seven-game trip with a third consecutive victory Wednesday...

Blazers' sizzling finish produces OT win at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It would have been totally understandable had the Portland Trail Blazers folded down the stretch Monday night. Instead, the Blazers turned the sixth game on a grueling seven-game Eastern road trip into a night to remember. Portland rallied from an 18-point deficit in the final five-plus minutes of regulation, then pulled away for a 118-112 overtime victory...
