The Portland Trail Blazers are off to an impressive 26-8 start, good for 2nd in the Northwest Division, a game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.  They have done so without the presence of number one draft pick CJ McCollum, who has missed the entire season due to a broken left foot.  But sources say that McCollum will make his first appearance of the season tonight. As reported by Chris Haynes at CSNNW.com, Portland Trail Blazers rookie guard CJ McCollum has been informed he’ll be activated for Tuesday’s road game against the Sacramento Kings.  McCollum played two games in the NBA Development League, scoring 14 and 24 points respectively. It's a good start for the rookie, who was able to get to the spots he wanted on the court. McCollum is an excellent ball handler and will give the Trail Blazers some options at shooting guard. It's important to note that D-League competition and NBA competition are two different things and McCollum will be brought along slowly.  But McCollum certainly will add another dimension to the Blazers' offense. He can create shots for himself and others, is excellent at penetrative the lane and he's intelligent. There is no reason that, in time, McCollum will succeed as a starting shooting guard in the NBA.McCollum will battle for playing time with starters Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews and Mo Williams.  McCollum was a four-year starter at Lehigh and averaged nearly 24 points per game as a senior before breaking his left foot.  He shot 49.5 percent from the floor, 51.6 percent from 3-point range and 84.9 percent from the free throw line. McCollum is perhaps best known for leading number fifteen seed Lehigh past number two seed Duke in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
