I haven't had a lot of faith in Trevor Ariza. He's notoriously a poor shooter from the free-throw line (67 percent for his career). But his cross-category production is hard to ignore. The Hornets lost in overtime to the Pacers 117-108, but Ariza played well. He hit 8-of-15 shots and 2-of-2 free throws for 21 points, three 3-pointers, six rebounds, five assists a steal, a block and two turnovers.
Ariza is having a solid year with averages of 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals, .6 blocks and 1.8 turnovers in 35.3 minutes. He isn't shooting particularly well from the field (41.2 percent), but he is hitting his free throws at a better clip than ever before (76.7 percent). He's also hit a total of 17 3-pointers for the season.
Kevin Durant showed no love to the rim tonight versus the New Orleans Hornets. Just one night after his career-high 51 point performance against the Nuggets, Durant came back with a top 10 play as he steals the ball at half court and throws it down for the tomahawk slam.
