MVN:
Like Etan Thomas and the pair of future second-round draft picks that the Wolves shipped to Oklahoma City, the players we got in return, Damien Wilkins and Chucky Atkins, are merely pieces to the puzzle that is the Wolves reclamation project. David Kahn took the same approach to the Wolves that a house-flipper takes to some shabby hovel in the 'burbs, and now he's working to turn it into something presentable. Here are the only players that remain from last year's roster:Corey Brewer Ryan Gomes Kevin LoveBrian CardinalBobby Brownand, of course, Big AlAtkins is probably best known from the one season he spent in L.A. with the Lakers ('04-'05), the only time he has started in all 82 games for a team. He's bounced around since then, and at age 34 with less then a million guaranteed this year, Atkins' greatest value likely lies in his value in future deals. If he doesn't become a casualty of the trading frenzy, his primary role will be mentoring Jonny Flynn and Ricky Rubio, another question mark.Wilkins has spent his entire career five year career with the Seattle/Oklahoma City franchise, most of it struggling to get floor time. Zgoda's article on the trade reports that Wilkins will be brought in for a workout to see "just what they have" in the former Georgia Bulldog.Apparently Kahn is on a trip to the West Coast interviewing Mark Jackson and Kurt Rambis. Considering the fact that he's reported to have interviewed at least a dozen candidates, Kahn's latest trip is not likely to be a sign that an announcment is forthcoming.
