Tonight's loss to the Nets was a heartbreaker. To me, this loss ruins their chances at getting the six seed. The Hawks, who the Celtics were just 1.5 games behind going into tonight, beat the Sixers this evening to take a 2.5 game lead over Boston for the six seed. So now it appears the C's will be playing the Knicks in this year's first round. That's disappointing.
Tonight's USOTN goes to the fact that the Celtics didn't have a single free throw attempt in the first half. This no doubt had a huge affect on their second half. You gotta be able to draw fouls. Those are free points you're missing out on. This was embarrassing.
What I'm trying to tell myself right now is that the Celtics just need to get hot in order to have success in the playoffs. Whether you're the 8 seed playing the 1 seed or the 5 seed playing the 4 seed, the higher seed only gets one more home game. Assuming that the Celtics will win all their playoff home games(they usually do), Boston will only have to win once at MSG to essentially win the series. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but you're not eliminated till your eliminated. As the great Jim Valvano once said, "Survive and Advance."
