Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Tonight's win over the Pistons wasn't pretty, easy, or enjoyable. But it was a win. Right now, this Celtics team could use a lot of those. They are slipping in the conference standings, so every game is pretty much becoming a must win. The bottom line: this win was big.
Tonight's USOTN goes to the one-sided offensive rebounding. The Celtics have been a horrible rebounding team this season, with tonight only continuing that phenomenon. The C's were out-rebounded on the offensive boards by the Pistons, 25-4. It was ugly, but at least they won. That's all that matters.
To go along with the clutch win, the Celtics also gained a game on the Hawks in the conference standings. Tonight, the Hawks dropped a home game to the Knicks, allowing the Celtics to gain a full game on them. Boston's now just 2.5 games behind Atlanta for the five seed and 2 games behind the Bulls for the six seed. I know they can do it. They just gotta get hot.

It's getting close to panic time without KG.
Yesterday we heard from Doc Rivers that Kevin Garnett was "feeling a lot better" and that he was "fine." Most importantly, Doc said "If we were in the playoffs tonight, Kevin would absolutely be playing." Well, last night wasn't the playoffs, and the KG/Pierce-less Celtics dropped another game...
Doc Rivers is an elite NBA head coach, but his mistakes are costing the Boston Celtics right now.Having won one NBA title back in 2008 and nearly two others during the last five years, there is now, no doubt that Boston Celticsrespected head coach Glen ‘Doc’ Rivers is as elite as any head coach in the game today. However, Rivers certainly isn’t perfect and to be honest about...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
A team source said that forward Kevin Garnett, who missed his seventh consecutive game with inflammation in his left ankle, is expected to return to action Friday against the Cavaliers.

Celtics got past the Pistons last night at the Garden 98-93. Jeff Green was once again fantastic, notching 34 points and hitting key buckets down the stretch. Boston is off until tomorrow when they face the Cavs at TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm EST.
Check out some pics/GIFs from last night’s game via HoopChina. I also included bonus video of Green’s 34 point performance..
The fellas talk about Jeff Green’s winning lay up, life without KG & Paul, and player slumps.
Dave and Stats played a game of “would you rather” with the subject being the Celtics potential first round opponents. Watch the show and play along in the comments.
One teeny, tiny silver lining for Celtic fans as they watch their team limp to the finish line of the 2012-13 regular season: Boston is aiding its draft status without sacrificing its playoff seeding (at least for the moment while keeping eighth-seeded Milwaukee at arm’s length).

8 a.m. ET: Things have not gone the Celtics’ way lately, either on the court or off.
The Celtics return to TD Garden on Wednesday hoping not only to get back in the win column but also to welcome back Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who were out of commission on Monday. Pierce was back home to deal with a personal matter and the Celtics hope it is just a one-game absence. Garnett...
Friday night the Boston Celtics will host the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:30 pm EST. The two squads will be meeting for the second time in just nine days and a victory for Boston would mark their 40th of the year. If you missed the action last Wednesday, then you didn't get to see Jeff Green's late game heroics that gave the Celtics a 93-92 edge at Quicken Loans Arena. Although...
Jeff Green scored 34 points, including a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to snap Boston's two-minute scoring drought, and the Celtics clinched a playoff berth by beating the Detroit Pistons 98-93 on Wednesday night.
Paul Pierce and Brandon Bass scored 17 apiece for the Celtics, who had lost two in a row and seven of their previous nine. But the victory, coupled with Philadelphia...

Bryan Hearne played Andre Rey Peetes in Hardball
I say the kid rocks the headband better. And unfortunately for Boston, unlike Peetes, I don’t think the Celtics (especially without Rondo) will make it to the “Ship” this year…

Back on Wednesday night, Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Knight (who hasn't had the greatest of months) appeared to have an easy breakaway lay-up against the Boston Celtics in the fourth quarter. The bucket would have cut Boston's lead to only one but Brandon somehow lost control of the ball on the way up and caused him to miss it with no one even close to him:(Courtesy of Larry Brown Sports)
