Earlier tonight I watched a Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) game, a habit I’ve adopted during Sunday evenings while living in Beijing. Since the CBA season began more than a month ago, I’ve enjoyed watching quite a few of the games, especially the games of such foreign imports as J.R. Smith (35.8 ppg as of 12/25/11), Stephon Marbury, Wilson Chandler, Patty Mills, and more recently, Peter John Ramos . The CBA is light years different than the NBA, but at the end of the day hoops is hoops, even if the CBA halftimes are only about 5 minutes long and the cheer teams have no rhythm.
Tonight’s game saw Wilson Chandler’s squad go up against Marcus Williams’s (the former UCONN Husky who in his junior year stole laptops then tried to sell them) squad. It was a competitive game even though Chandler’s team came in at 10-4 and Williams’s team at 3-11. Chandler’s team went up by 7 with 16 seconds left and that’s when I turned the T.V. off.
