On Saturday, Utah Jazz rookie fractured his right index finger during the first quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers. Burke was injured halfway through the first quarter and returned in the second quarter with his finger taped. He played a few more minutes before he was pulled from the game.
As reported by Brett Pollakoff of NBCSports.com, Burke’s finger will be re-examined on Monday according to Jody Genessy of the Desert News. Burke ended with two points, four assists and two turnovers, in 14 minutes of action.
Burke is a favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. So a loss of Burke for any significant length of time could be a big blow to the Jazz. The team only has three other point guards on the roster in John Lucas III, Scott Machado and Alec Burks.
