The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns had quite the game last night and for the Knicks, it was a game without key players.
The Knicks were playing short-handed. Carmelo Anthony was out with a hyper-extended left knee, Raymond Felton was sidelined with a sprained right pinkie and Rasheed Wallace also was out for the seventh straight game. This should have been almost an easy win for the Suns, right?
Despite playing in Phoenix, home cooking wasn't in favor of the Suns as with one second remaining on the game-clock, the Knicks inbounded the ball to J.R. Smith who nailed the game-winning shot sending the Suns to yet another loss.

Knicks guard J.R. Smith helped New York top the Phoenix Suns 99-97 by hitting an improbable buzzer-beating shot to win the game on Wednesday. The winning shot was Smith’s second of the month, and what made it even more special — aside from the difficulty of it — was that Smith also hit a jumper on the previous possession that tied the game:
Smith had 27 points, six rebounds...
There was a wide variety of tweets last night after J.R. Smith sunk his game winning shot at the buzzer. The majority of tweets were positive, however morons like @BAM_BAM348 had to ruin the fun: JR SMITH U AIN’T **** JUST ANOTHER ***** FROM CONEY ISLAND NEVER MADE A F*CKIN ALL STAR GAME F*CK U COON.
Ouch. That one probably hurt even J.R.’s feelings. Here’s a tweet from @iSMASHnuns...
J.R. Smith had just nailed a jumper with 11 seconds left in the game to bring his Knicks even with the Suns at 97. With only one second to play the Knicks got the ball back and J.R. had his turn again to be a hero, and he delivered. Check out the extremely off-balanced fadeaway jumper that Smith nailed with no time remaining to give the Knicks the 99-97 victory and a 21-8 record...

Smith's tough jumper from 15 feet had tied it at 97 with 10.6 seconds left. Then, after the turnover, Jason Kidd inbounded to Smith, who got the shot off as he sailed toward the out of bounds...

Say what you want about the Knicks having to win it on a last second shot attempt over a lesser squad, the Phoenix Suns. In the NBA, almost, any team can beat any team on a given night, despite our title contenders list being short every year. This is what makes a good team become great, winning these road games that should have resulted in a loss. What out America, the Knicks...
J.R. Smith will be called upon to extend the reach of his game with Raymond Felton out 4-6 weeks. But that shouldn't be a problem for the 27-year old. He is versatile and he wants to win. And the New York Knicks are winning because of his help. However, Smith is vastly underpaid this year. This means he will likely opt out of his contract after the season, but he wants...
Video: J.R. Smith = John Starks 2.0
Tweet The New York Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony (knee) and Raymond Felton (finger) for Wednesday’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns, leaving little doubt J.R. Smith would carry the load offensively. And he did. Smith finished with a team-high 27 points (11-27 FG) and also added 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in [...]
PHOENIX The Suns, still searching for that one critical stop, that one critical hoop, came up a Santa Claus whisker short again Wednesday against a depleted New York Knicks team that was teetering toward its second loss in a row.
But it did not happen the Knicks made the plays in the final 10 seconds to salvage a 99-97 victory when J.R. Smith hit a forced 20-footer from the left...
Knicks 99 Suns 97
The shorthanded Knicks came into tonight’s game with a new line up and a determination to move the ball. The Knicks and Suns battled in the Valley of the Sun tonight. It was the Knicks who prevailed tonight on the backs of Jason Kidd and of course JR Smith. Knicks win 99-97.
The 1st quarter started with an obvious energy that I have not...

Today is and was Christmas Day. We all are with our families and friends, chillin’ out enjoying the times. What we also have is a full day of NBA basketball, highlighted by the Knicks vs. Lakers. Today was a show down of two different teams on different paths. Knick look good, but are they GREAT? The Lakers turmoil early on has turned into a mini 4...
With the clock winding down in a Christmas thriller than never saw a lead greater than ten points, Kobe Bryant (34 Pts) and the Lakers proved to have just a tad more holiday spirit. Knicks sharp shooter J.R. Smith (25 Pts, 10-23 Fg) reached deep into his bag of heroics when he drilled a three-point bucket with only one minute remaining in the contest, closing the deficit to two....

A heart breaking loss as the Knicks fight back from a 27 point deficit to take a 5 point lead only to let the Kings get back into in the end. James Johnson hit a 3 pointer at the top of the three point line at the buzzer to drop the Knicks to 21-9.
