Found January 28, 2013 on Project Spurs:
Even after two wins in a row, including a big win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, there’s no denying that the L.A. Lakers are still a big mess. Eventually they’re going to figure out that Dwight Howard is one of the big reasons why. During the Lakers’ game against the Thunder, ESPN broadcaster Jeff Van Gundy went on one of his classic rants (video below), calling out Howard’s attitude. Van Gundy seems to think Howard won’t be happy unless he’s the go-to guy on a championship team with no hassle from the coaching staff or any of his teammates. Obviously those are unrealistic aspirations because Howard has shown that he really only thrives when he’s not the main focal point of defensive attention. I’ve seen a lot of speculation over the last couple weeks that the Lakers would get rid of Howard unless things started improving quickly. They know they need to unclog the post and they can’t get rid of Pau Gasol because Dwight is a free agent at the end of the year and could bolt. Then where would the Lakers be? Speaking of Gasol, Van Gundy also called him out during his lecture to the Lakers. He says Gasol needs to learn to be more like San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili at the 1:45 point in video below. If the team needs him to come off the bench, he needs to accept that role and be happy with it. No complaints. No matter how the playing time and touches get divided, Van Gundy was right about one thing for sure. The Lakers need to stop whining, especially to the media. A team will never thrive when they’re constantly calling out teammates and coaches and subsequently apologizing for their comments. Sitting tied for 10th in the Western Conference, the Lakers obviously need to do something drastic if they want to make the playoffs and have a shot at going anywhere. It starts with Howard and Gasol, but everyone needs a major attitude adjustment. Maybe Jeff Van Gundy should coach the team.

Dwight Howard Says He’s Sick of All the Negativity

I wonder why Dwight wouldn’t say this to Kobe when Bean ask him did he have a problem with him? Kobe is saying the Lakers should have more attitude while Dwight saying the team is too negative. Who is right and who is wrong? “Negativity just got to stop,” Howard said via ESPN after the team’s shootaround Friday. “I’m sick of hearing about it. I’m sick of hearing about...

Chances the Lakers Keep Dwight Howard at 50-50

The Los Angeles Lakers' struggles this season are well-documented.  They have a new team that looks on paper like it should compete with anyone, but injuries and an inability to adjust have left the team on the outside looking in.  For them to make the playoffs at this point, the team would have to go on a magical second-half run.  But will they have to do it without Dwight...

Lakers' stars getting on the same page

Amazing what two victories can do for a team. They were enough for Dwight Howard to give a glowing update of his relationship with Kobe Bryant. "I'm happy that me and Kobe are getting on the same page. In order for us to win, me and him have to always be together on the same page," he said after Lakers practice Monday. "We have to really lead this team. That...

Pau Gasol Angry over Benching

When you go from a key contributor to two NBA Championship teams to a bench player, it can be safe to assume that a player may not exactly be pleased with his changed role. This is the case for Lakers forward Pau Gasol, who has been demoted to a bench player and has seen his minutes decrease. Although the Lakers are now riding a 3-game winning streak, not everyone is happy in...

Dwight Howard says he and Kobe on same page now

The Lakers are on a three-game win streak. Usually this would not be much cause for celebration or be newsworthy at all. The struggles that Los Angeles has gone through this season have been a complete surprise, considering the talent level, and it is shocking to think a team with Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol would miss the Playoffs. A three-game win streak...

Report: Suns' Brown to appeal flagrant foul on Ginobili

During the Phoenix Suns visit to the AT&T Center against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, Shannon Brown was ejected for a nasty flagrant foul on San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili during the final seconds of the third quarter. Mike D’Antoni On Kobe: Less Scoring May Be Better

The Lakers played one of their better games as a team on Friday night against the Jazz, and it didn’t go unnoticed by their head coach Mike D’Antoni. In speaking about Kobe Bryant’s 14 points, 14 assist, 9 rebound night, D”antoni suggested to ESPN L.A. that less buckets from Kobe could be best. “If you win, is it really a sacrifice or is it, ‘Yeah, you played the right...
