Quick recap of the Cavs Vegas Summer League game against the Milwaukee Bucks.Box ScoreGeneral Thoughts:This game looked just like you would expect it to look like: a bunch of guys trying to make a name for themselves and more likely than not, doing it in a bad way. Forced shots, turnovers, fouls, defensive mistakes, etc; you name it, you got it.Cavs came out and were up by eight at one point in the game but then the Bucks put it into high-gear and pulled away, having a couple big leads during the 2nd/3rd quarter (Cavs were outscored 26-9 in 3rd). The Cavs summer league team looks like it's going to have a hard time winning any games without any size down-low and any point guard out top. Right now David Harrison is the only legit big guy they have and he's showing why he's been out of the league. Maureece Rice, Jamont Gordon and Robert Hite are the only point guards on the team and none of them can run a team (the Cavs ended up with 21 turnovers and 12 assists). The three main things I looked for in this game was general improvement from the players, were the players in the game mentally and whether or not they fouled a lot. For the most part the Cavs passed the test. Getting Specific: Danny Green: I really loved this pick by Danny Ferry and I'm loving it even more now. I know, I know it's the freakin' Vegas Summer League but there's just something about this kid that just makes me feel like he's going to be a solid NBA player (think Raja Bell). Maybe it's the silky smooth jumper with a quick release. Maybe it's his defense. Maybe it's his poise and demeanor. Whatever it is, I like Green.Christian Eyenga: The biggest thing that I looked for in his game was improvement from Game 1 to Game 2 and he certainly displayed that. While Eyenga isn't going to put up 20 points, grab 10 rebounds, dish out 10 assists or block 10 shots, he does have a decent skill level. He's still quite raw but it's not like the Cavs are starting from scratch with him. Aside from that, it was great to see Eyenga being very active, always hustling, always alert, is showing great athleticism and showing pretty decent basketball instincts. Most importantly, Eyenga hasn't fouled much and has shown he can hold his own. (BTW--Eyenga has called for at least 6 lobs in 2 games)Tarence Kinsey: If there is any way a player is playing his way out of a contract, then it's got to be Kinsey. Danny Ferry probably won't make a decision on Kinsey's team option based on how he has played in Summer League but it sure isn't any endorsement. Whether it's the forced shots, turnovers or his ball-hogging, he sure doesn't look like an NBA player to me.Jawad Williams: I've been pleasantly surprised by the play of Williams. I generally thought it'd be a waste having Williams on the team next year but he's come out and proven me wrong. While he hasn't made eye-popping plays or put up eye-popping stats, he's generally played pretty well. Most importantly for him and his future here, he's shot the ball well.Darnell Jackson: Aside from Kinsey, he's arguably been struggling just as much. Part of the problem with Jackson is even though he's a mobile big with a jump-shot, he's been hanging out around the perimeter too much. As he's gotten closer to the basket he's done better, but he's still had a tough time so far.Leo Lyons: Now he's been the true surprise of this team. If there's anybody, aside from the rookies and aside from the players on the Cavs roster, that has the best shot of getting a training camp invite and possibly making the team, it's Lyons. He has a real smooth game offensively and has showed it. He's been getting to the rim pretty well and has finished real well too. His shooting stroke has also been there. Defensively it's a mixed bag but he has the physical tools to be a decent swing forward defender. Overall though, he's really been playing well.David Harrison, Robert Hite, Jamont Gordon and Maureece Rice, good luck elsewhere! The Cavs play again Tuesday night at 6:30 PM (EST) against the Washington Wizards.
