Quick recap of the Cavs loss to the Wizards (only got to see the 2nd half).Box ScoreGeneral ThoughtsThis lack of a true PG crap to run the team is really starting to bug me. Although I'm not sure if it would help too much since these games look just like D-League games: a bunch of guys trying to score at every opportunity and thinking the only to make a NBA team is by scoring 20 points a game. The lack of ball movement, the lack of overall passing and the amount of ball-hogging is terrible. The Cavs were down by 18 at one point but actually came back and were tied with around a minute left in the game. But good 'ole Jamont Gordon came down with around 40 seconds left and jacked up a 3 (granted it was open, but still) that clanked off the front of the rim. Cavs actually started to play well together in the in the 2nd half when they started to play better together but there's still nothing resembling defense that the Cavs have tried to play. I'm still surprised they were nearly able to score 93 points with the type of offense they have had. Getting SpecificDanny Green: His shot cooled off today. He ended up having 4 points (all off free-throws) and went 0-5 from the field. Didn't see him play too much in the 2nd half but seemed like he was forcing things a bit and doing things in his game he's not exactly used to doing (i.e. - dribbling too much).Tarence Kinsey: Granted he did put up 22 points today (he had 5 points within the last 10 seconds when the game was over), the ball-hogging was still there, the turnovers were still there, the lack of ball movement was still there and the lack of defense (Nick Young torched him) was still there. For someone with his NBA experience and talent level, I expected a lot more out of him that this so far. Not to mention, he is still trying to make this team. There's no guarantee the Cavs pick up his option for next year.Christian Eyenga: Wow, what a game he had tonight. He put up his best stats so far this summer league and played extremely well throughout the night (especially the 2nd half). He was knocking down jumpers, displaying some excellent moves on the low-block, finishing at the rim (and getting to the rim), running like a deer in transition and getting easy buckets, playing good defense and playing within himself. Eyenga would have been tied for the lead in scoring (17 points) had Kinsey not had a cheap 5 points in the end. But regardless of that, 17 points (7-13 FG, 0-2 3PT, 3-3 FT), 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 fouls is pretty darn good. This kid is really surprising me. I can't help but think this kid just turned 20 years old on June 22 and basically played jayvee ball in Spain last year.Darnell Jackson: He played a lot better than in previous games but that still isn't saying a whole lot considering how bad he played recently. But he still played well. His lack of height hurt him defensively versus the big frontline of the Wizards (JaVale McGee, Andray Blatche). He actually had a few good low-post moves and ended up with 14 points on 5-12 from the field and 4-6 from the line. Despite his rather so-so performances in the Summer League thus far, I really do think he has a decent future in the NBA as a solid, solid role player.Jawad Williams: He continues to play real well. He's really shooting the ball well (4-8 FG, 2-3 3PT, 4-4 FT) and is surprising me a bit on defense. Granted he's not going to be a lock-down defender, he showed some good strength pushing Blatche out away from the low-block and looks quick enough on the perimeter to guard SFs. There's a reason he went to North Carolina and was a rotational player and I think we're seeing it here. He's playing himself onto the roster and forcing the Cavs to pick up his team option.Leo Lyons: Looks like we found out why he went undrafted today. While he does have a nice game offensively (real good around the rim), he really struggles defensively. Blatche was much to quick for him and he struggled to play any kind of defense on him. Blatche got anywhere he wanted. That's trouble for Lyons considering he's looking to be too slow to guard SF's and too small to guard PF's. And again: good-bye and good luck to David Harrison, Jamont Gordon, Maureece Rce and Robert Hite! The Cavs next game is Thursday at 10:00 PM (EST) against the Dallas Mavericks.
