Portland Trail Blazers
Golden State Warriors
New York Knicks
By Dave Del Grande, Sports Xchange OAKLAND, Calif. -- Damian Lillard put on a show for his hometown fans in his Oakland homecoming, but his 37 points weren't enough as the Golden State Warriors held on for an entertaining 103-97 victory Friday night over the Portland Trail Blazers. Lillard, who grew up in the shadow of the Warriors' downtown practice facility and attended Oakland High, hit 10 consecutive shots over a brilliant 11 1/2-minute stretch of the third and fourth periods en route to his season-best total. But unfortunately for the Trail Blazers, they'd dug themselves a 67-47 deficit before Lillard got hot, and only got as close 91-84 following the rookie's 10th consecutive hoop, a driving left-hander at the rim with 5:12 left in the game. Luke Babbitt eventually got Portland within 93-87 with a 3-pointer at the 3:34 mark, but Klay Thompson countered with a 3 of his own and Warriors hung on to snap a two-game losing streak while also stopping Portland...

The Trail Blazers visit Oakland on Friday not only as one of the NBA’s surprise teams this season but with one of the league’s top rookies helping lead the way.
That rookie, Damian Lillard, also happens to be making a homecoming to the city in which he grew up, adding another interesting wrinkle to this already intriguing match-up between two teams whose fortunes have changed...
JUUUST A BIT OUTSIDE
During Thursday night's Trail Blazers-Heat game (still going on as I write this) in Portland, the Trail Blazers' J.J. Hickson just barely missed with this pass: Even JaMarcus Russell thought that pass was awful. Somehow, Hickson actually has an assist in this game. Sometime near the end of Friday night’s match up between the Blazers and the Warriors, NBA blogger Kevin Pelton tweeted the following:
“The Warriors are in for like a decade and a half of lamenting that Damian Lillard is from Oakland.”
A decade and a half may be a slight stretch, as Lillard will be 37 then, but Pelton’s point stands — again and again, Lillard continues...
Coming off a big win against the Miami Heat that saw them cement themselves as playoff contenders in the Western Conference, the Portland Trail Blazers tried to rally against the Golden State Warriors after a slow start but came up a little short in a 103-97 loss.
The loss to the Warriors snapped Portland’s four-game win streak that saw them become one of the bigger...
Unlike Javale McGee who tripped when he threw the ball into the 10th row, JJ Hickson was just standing still. Luckily for us this makes for an even funnier video. During last nights Trail Blazers-Heat game JJ Hickson found himself with the ball and about 20 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter. He must have thought it said two seconds though, because he rushed...
J.J. Hickson of the Portland Trail Blazers had quite the unexpected reaction following a pass he had on Thursday night when his team took on the Miami Heat. Hickson threw a pass to teammate Sasha Pavlović, but the ball sailed an easy 3-5 feet over his head and definitely out of his reach. As Sasha sat there wondering why the pass was so bad, Hickson stared at him in disbelief...
Former No. 1 overall draft pick Greg Oden plans to return to the NBA next season, according to ESPN.com.
The Miami Heat are the team most interested in signing Oden, who has not played since Dec. 5, 2009, following a series of knee injuries, according to the report. The Heat could sign Oden to a multiyear deal this season and help monitor his rehabilitation.
The 7-foot Oden was...
Portland Trail Blazers starting power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is quietly putting together one of the most productive seasons by an individual player in the NBA this season. The six-year pro has averaged 20.6 points and 8.4 rebounds a game to help spur the Trail Blazers to a 19-15 record and the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference playoff race.
Most people in Greg Oden’s position; would be ready to start the next adventure of their lifetime journey; leaving thoughts of playing in the NBA in the rear-view mirror. Unless he threw his money away, or invested in bad business deals; his grandchildren’s children should be set for life. The former first round pick of the 2007 NBA Draft, though follows the philosophy of the...
Greg Oden is looking to return to the NBA, and it could happen as soon as this season. And rumors (and some truths) about where he will go are heating up.
Oden is a 7-foot-0 center and was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft. He was selected by Portland one spot ahead of Oklahoma Citys Kevin Durant.
But three microfracture knee surgeries later, Oden is out of the game and...
When watching the highlights between the Portland Trail Blazers versus Miami Heat on Thursday night, it was hard not to think about Greg Oden.
Rip City is where Oden tore up his knees resulting in three microfracture surgeries and 82 total games played between the time the Blazers selected him number one overall in the 2007 NBA Draft and December 2009, when the 7-foot center...
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Wesley Matthews' back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minute lifted the Portland Trail Blazers to a come-from-behind, 92-90 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night at the Rose Garden. Portland (20-15) earned its 12th win in 15 games and its ninth consecutive home victory. The Blazers trailed by 12 points early in the fourth quarter before mounting a...
The agent for center Greg Oden said Thursday he's "100 percent" certain his often-injured client will be back playing in the NBA next season. But he said rumors Oden could end up with Miami Heat this season in order to rehab are "extreme."
With Miami playing at Portland on Thursday, there has been speculation the Heat, who can open up a roster spot, could...
The Golden State Warriors are trying to bounce back from two straight losses for only the second time this season. After being dominated in the paint twice, they'll try to shore up their interior defense Friday night when they host the Portland Trail Blazers, who have won four in a row.
Golden State (22-12) strung together four consecutive wins before losing to the Los Angeles...
