Golden State Warriors forward David Lee will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his right hip flexor. He sustained the injury during Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets when he hit the ground hard following a foul. Lee told reporters – including Rusty Simmons of The San Francisco Chronicle – that he had been playing through pain in his back for two weeks prior to sustaining his injury.Lee’s back had been killing him two weeks prior to tearing his hip flexor. He didn’t want this to be known, as he hoped to continue playing through the pain. It got to the point where he had to use ice packs to ease the discomfort during contests. It’s not clear if this previous back malady had any impact on Lee’s recent injury, but what has been determined is that he’ll miss the next three months with the tear. He said he felt a pop in his hip upon landing after the foul. He stayed in the game long enough to take two free throws, but when he tried to play defense he said there was no feeling in his right leg and no strength in his hip to lift his knee.Lee’s used to playing through pain, and now the Warriors will have to feel the agony of continuing through the playoffs without him. That scuffle between the Warriors and Pacers in February, for all the wrong reasons, was one of the more enjoyable moments of Golden State’s season thus far. To jog your memory, Roy Hibbert and David Lee got involved in a shoving contest, Hibbert went Incredible Hulk on Steph Curry, and Mychal Thomspon clowned his son.
For their efforts in igniting the fracas, Lee and Hibbert...
