Jerry Buss died today and the big controversy in death was the real age of the Lakers owner. ESPN and the L.A. Times are reporting Jerry was 80 (born on January 27, 1933) while Wikipedia and at least one AP writer had Jerry dead at 79 (born on January 27, 1934). As you can see on Wikipedia, someone has Jerry dead at 80 but born in 1934. (Click for larger image) Deadspin has Jerry dead at 79. Back in January, AP writer Greg Beacham reported that Buss had celebrated his 79th birthday. Just a year ago, the L.A. Times Lakers Blog reported that Jerry was celebrating his 78th birthday. Sites reporting Jerry was 79: • KTLA (that was 3 days ago) is now reporting Buss was 80.
