jazz 83 wizards 7611/17/2012 - Verizon Center, Washington, DCESPN BoxscoreNBA.com Game Highlights     Jan Vesely. Coach Witman finally listened to the clamoring of fans and changed up the starting lineup, inserting Jordan Crawford for Bradley Beal and Jan Vesely for Trevor Booker. Crawford responded by leading the team in scoring with 20 points and Vesely played at an energetic and frantic pace, which helped the Wizards jump out to a 11-0 lead. While Jan struggled from the field going 2/6 and 1/2 from the line, as cliche as it sounds, he did all the little things that don’t show up in the box score. He deflected passes, tipped rebounds, and blocked or bothered numerous shots. He provided a spark that team has been misssing, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the Wizards lose AGAIN!! Emeka Okafor had another up and down night. He struggled with the mid range jump shot again. Teams seem to be content with giving him the 15 foot shot and he keeps taking it and he keeps missing it but he redeemed himself with a monster night on the boards pulling down 14 of them. Kevin Seraphin on the other hand is in a funk of epic proportions. Ever since the home and home series against Boston, the Kevin Seraphin from those two games has disappeared. In those games he looked confident and attacked his defender every opportunity he had. Since then, he has been tenative and unsure of himself and that was evident tonight. Seraphin finished with only six points on 3-11 shooting but when you look at the boxscore what really jumps out at you is the ZERO rebounds. You heard me...ZERO. Like the steak said to the butter knife, that is not gonna cut it.If you watched this game and had to go run an errand during the third quarter you would probably say the Wizards shut down Al Jefferson. That’s because Jefferson scored 15 of his 21 points in the third. Derrick Favors struggled offensively putting up nine points on 3-10 shooting. But they both did their real damage on the boards. Jefferson finished with 13 boards and Favors added another 10 but then again the entire Jazz team put in work on glass, especially on the offensive end grabbing 26 of their 60 rebounds.   THE GOOD The defense was damn good once again. The Jazz came into the game averaging 99.9 ppg, which ranked 10th in the NBA and the Wizards held them to only 89 points. Aside from the Al Jefferson third quarter explosion, they held everyone in check offensively. Emeka Okafor had 3 blocks and Han Vesely added 2 more. The defensive performance has been the one highlight of the season. THE BADThe bad case of deja vu that Wizard fans seem to be suffering from sturck again. Stop me if this sounds familiar, the Wizards come into a game clearly outmatched with no reasonable chance of winning, the Wizards then play said team close for three and half quarters only to lose the game in the final 5 minutes of play, that was the story of this game as well. If NBA games lasted 40-43 minutes the Wizards would be the story of the year but unfortunately the games last 48 minutes and the plot for the season is looking like a bad B-movie in the making. THE UGLY This one is reserved for the Wizards fans, not for booing the team in the closing minutes of fourth quarter, it’s acceptable to boo an 0-8 team but my anger is reserved for the fans who went ballastic during the Chik-fil-A sandwich giveaway as the Jazz are putting the game out of reach.. The way the crowd went crazy you would’ve thought the Wizards finally won a game. I saw two guys hugging each other like this was a playoff victory and not a $3.50 sandwich giveaway that includes a chicken breast, a pickle, and a bun. Now don’t get me wrong, I love some Chik-fil-A, and I really love free Chik-fil-A but when the loudest cheer of the night is for a sandwich, the fans and the orginization should feel a little shame. The Wizards should think about holding the giveaway earlier in the game or put a rule in place that they won’t do the giveaway when the game is decided and the team is 0-8.

Jazz 83, Wizards 76

Al Jefferson scored 21 points, Gordon Haywood added 15 in his first game as a reserve this season, and the Utah Jazz kept the Washington Wizards winless with an 83-76 victory on Saturday night. The Jazz committed 19 turnovers but pulled away in the fourth quarter while closing a four-game road trip with a sloppy performance - and got away with it because they were playing the Wizards...

Utah fell to 1-6 on the road with a 99-93 loss at Philadelphia...

Holiday helps 76ers get past Jazz

Holiday nailed his first four shots Friday night, and scored 18 of his 26 points in the first half, propelling the Sixers to a 99-93 victory over the Utah Jazz. Holiday also notched six points in the last 4:11, as the Sixers (5-4) kept the Jazz at bay to end a two...
