Their contributions go well beyond the 2008 title. If KG and "The Truth" have played their final games in green, where would they each fit among the greatest Celtics ever? We'll start with Garnett.  He's spent only 6 years in Boston, but he also changed the entire culture of the franchise.  He turned the Celtics into a defensive oriented team all by himself, and was the primary reason for the C's return to elite status among NBA franchises.  The impact he's had on teammates also can not be measured; his presence on the floor has gone way beyond just his playing skills.  Being the driving force behind a single championship ranks him higher on the list than many other complimentary players who won multiple titles. All this likely puts Garnett somewhere in the #12-18 range.  For example, Frank Ramsey won 7 championships in his 9 year career, but was also never better than the 4th or 5th best player at any given time.  The same can be said for Danny Ainge ...

Which teams does Kevin Garnett put over the top? Breaking down potential KG trades

Today is Kevin Garnett's birthday. I have known KG's birthday for as long as I can remember, because I share the same one. When I was a kid I can remember looking up which famous people shared the same birthday as me, and seeing KG's name. I was probably 10 or 11 at the time, and I can remember wishing that Garnett would someday join the Celtics, because it would be...

Report: Paul Pierce & Family Preparing to Relocate from Boston

The future of the Boston Celtics has a lot of question marks as of right now. One of the key moves to be made, is whether or not the team will decide to bring back Paul Pierce for the last year of his contract. The key is the fact that this final year of Pierce’s contract is not guaranteed and can be bought out for $5 million. While the Celtics have yet to decide what to...

The key word here is rumor.  It comes from a Pelicans blogger who said on twitter that he heard from an "Eastern Conference source" that the Celtics are discussing this internally; as in they haven't even discussed it with New Orleans.  But somehow that is enough to set the twitter world abuzz, so here we are discussing it. I do love Eric Gordon when he's healthy...

It's the trade rumor that just won't die. We heard it last summer from ESPN's Ric Bucher, who wondered aloud whether both teams would be improve in the swap. We heard it at the deadline this year as well...

Life After KG

Last summer the Celtics resigned 36 year old Kevin Garnett to a new 3yr/$34 mil deal. After one season, retirement is already looking likely. Memories of the Boston Celtics Big Three Era

I’m not a big believer in “eras”; at least not as clearly demarcated periods in a franchise’s history.  I’m even less fond of talk about “windows closing” on a team. Reality is a lot messier than that. Each season is unique; even for teams with little or no roster turnover.  Rosters change.  Individual players change.  Roles change.  Rotations change.  The...
