The Boston Celtics have found themselves in a fairly competitive opening-round series with the Atlanta Hawks. While Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo have been superb throughout the five game series, some of the Hawks big name stars have given the Celtics fits in trying to close out the best-of-seven. Joe Johnson has posed plenty of problems for Boston, as the Celtics first-round pick in 2001 has developed into an elite scorer and stingy defender. Jeff Teague has also been a pest for the Celtics through the first five games. Teague is averaging 15.8 points and 3.8 assists per...

Paul Pierce ran like every step sent a lightning bolt of pain down his leg. He always plays methodically, often with a pace that rivals a middle-aged man going for a midday jog. But yesterday he was clearly bothered by an injury he suffered during a Game 4 pregame shootaround.Afterward, Pierce shrugged off the injury but admitted to playing a step slow. (Boston Herald)“I don’t...
Damn it all to hell. I knew Pierce looked hobbled during his last outing, but I didn’t know he looked “sprained MCL” hobbled. This is just another setback the Celtics will have to overcome. Hopefully Pierce’s mobility will improve with time and treatment.Even if it does, this, THIS RIGHT HERE, is why the Celtics should have taken care of business in Game 5 and afforded...
Kevin Garnett had himself a night on Thursday night, helping the Celtics send the Atlanta Hawks home for the summer. The Celtics forward had a little extra motivation, though, something that he wasn't afraid to share with the world in his postgame news conference. Following his incredible performance -- 28 points and 14 rebounds in Game 6 -- Garnett admitted that Michael Gearon...
Last night, the Atlanta Hawks stayed alive in their series against the Boston Celtics and set up a game six in Beantown. After the game, a cameraman was just doing his job of filming players near the locker room when Celtics guard Rajon Rondo spotted him and decided to confront him about filming him.Rondo told him to stop and walked away from it: (Courtesy of Celtics Life)

BOSTON -- Kevin Garnett spent a lot of time following Thursday's game talking about being called a dirty player, an old player, and other things he does not like to be called. Buried beneath those ready-made sound bytes, though, was an offhand remark about what fuels him other than critics who dislike his style or admirers who think he does not have much basketball left to play...
After Game 2 Kevin Garnett said the Celtics were “all grit and balls.” 28 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and three steals later, Kevin Garnett carried the Celtics to an 83-80 series clinching victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 of Boston's opening round series against Atlanta.
The Atlanta Hawks used every vial of alligator blood in their refrigerator to attempt a series-extending victory, but the Celtics managed to survive and will move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.Paul Pierce looked significantly more mobile tonight, if not quite his most spry. His tough hoop to bring the Celtics within one during trouble time was very appreciated, as was...
BOSTON (AP) -- Kevin Garnett had 28 points and 14 rebounds, hitting a jumper to give Boston the lead with 31 seconds left, and the Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks 83-80 in Game 6 on Thursday night to win their first-round playoff series and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the fifth straight year.
The Celtics will play the Philadelphia 76ers, who eliminated East No...
Ray Allen’s status remains uncertain. Paul Pierce still plans to play through his sprained MCL. First team to 70 probably wins tonight and every game this series.
Lots of ref complaints from Hawks fans. Some were legit but then again they let a lot of stuff go both ways at times. I think in the end, Hawks fans trashed their own team more than they did the Celtics. I think my favorite comment was the guy who hates everything about Boston including the creme pies. That just cracked me up! Enjoy today's series close out comments...
