While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com.

Leading off, it was day one of Urban Meyer’s inaugural fall camp as coach of the Ohio State football team. Eleven Warriors has a recap of some interview from day one with QB Braxton Miller, RB Carlos Hyde, and DB Bradley Roby.

Also at 11W, they had a roundtable discussion on thoughts surrounding the upcoming Buckeye football season, “One thing that I will say is that the 2011 season taught me, in painful fashion, the importance of coaching. I think a lot of us really underestimated just how important Tressel was to making his system work, and I agree that a coach like Meyer has the ability to make lemonade in a fairly short period of time. Still, given Meyer’s often blunt assessment of where he deems the offense to be right now, I’d be surprised to see them hit the ground running.” [Eleven Warriors]

At Stepien Rules, Brendan Bowers gives us some more info on newly signed Cavalier small forward C.J. Miles, “In his second year, Coach Jerry Sloan dropped a “diapers blast” on CJ which is always unfortunate. Sloan said in a postgame interview of Miles: ”He came out kind of soft. I mean, I don’t care if he’s 19 or 30. If he’s going to be on the floor in the NBA, he’s got to be able to step up and get after it. We can’t put diapers on him one night, and a jockstrap the next night. It’s just the way it is.”" [Stepien Rules]

Jamison Hensley at ESPN’s AFC North has some advice for new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III: don’t clean house, “Haslam told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he wants to “listen and learn” before making any decisions. He doesn’t have to take the advice of an AFC North blogger, but he should listen to the best player on his team. Before re-signing with the Browns last year, All-Pro offensive tackle Joe Thomas spoke with Heckert and Shurmur. “I got to see what their vision was and see the direction that they want to take this thing in,” Thomas said during my visit this week to Browns training camp. “I believed in that vision, and I still do. I told them straight-up when we were negotiating the contract, I wasn’t going to re-sign if I didn’t think this was going to be a winner in a few years.”" [ESPN AFC North Blog]

Finally, Chris Pokorny at Dawgs By Nature dissects some comments from GM Tom Heckert, “While the number seems reasonable for your traditional rookie back, I was thinking more along the lines of 30 touches at most. That doesn’t mean I thought he’d average 30 as a rookie, but when I see Heckert mention the possibility of 20 touches being a max number, it makes me believe we’ll see more of Montario Hardesty and Brandon Jackson on gameday than I originally thought.” [Dawgs By Nature]
