Howard
It’s no secret that this is deja vu for the Orlando Magic. This franchise went through the same exact thing back in 1996 with a guy named Shaquille O’Neal. Maybe you’ve heard of him? All jokes aside no one is laughing in Orlando right now, they are trying to keep history from repeating itself but they must act now. Who is the right man to take over in Orlando? There has been two names that have been really floating around out there. Brook Lopez and Andrew Bynum, both 7 footers are young and bring a good game to the court. Let’s look at what each would bring to the table. Brook Lopez 23 years old, has been in the league for four seasons now, averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. The stats that jump out the most is that he shoots 50% from the field and he shoots 80% from the free throw line. This guy looks strong all around and he hasn’t hit his peak yet. Andrew Bynum 24 years old, has been in the league for seven seasons, averaging 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Bynum has had short seasons due to injury. Many feel that he [...]

Lakers fate depends on Bynum, World Peace

EL SEGUNDO, CA-- The last time the Lakers took a three-games-to-one lead in the NBA Playoffs and then lost it and had to play a seventh game, it didn't turn out so well for them. After losing the first game of the opening round series to Phoenix in 2006, the Lakers worked hard to win the next three by a total of just 14 points. Then the Suns regrouped for the final three games...

Before game 5 Bynum had some comments that seemed to fuel the Nuggets. Here is what Bynum said before game 5. “Closeout games are actually kind of easy,” Bynum had said...

Kobe Questionable For Game 6

Much was made of Andrew Bynum’s comment about close out games being “easy”. Especially after he & most of the Lakers failed to show up for the game 5 loss at home. The butterfly effect: JaVale McGee morphs into defensive stalwart

Maybe we didn’t notice JaVale McGee’s defensive prowess because he toiled away on a horrible Washington Wizards team for the first three and a half years of his career but now that he is with the Denver Nuggets, Denver’s interior defense has been much improved. McGee has taken his athletic, high-energy game and caused fits for the Los Angeles Lakers’ All-Star center Andrew...

Steele: Not all doom and gloom for Magic

The 2011-12 NBA season has come a close for the Orlando Magic. It was the longest, short season in franchise history. If someone were to offer a screenplay depicting the seasons events to the Soap Opera Network, it would be roundly rejected for lack of believability. Now, as the post-season arrives, big decisions are in the offing for the franchise. Will the three major players...

Lakers Find It Not So “Easy Closing Out” After All, Nuggets Win 113-96 Series Tied 3-3

If the Denver Nuggets win game seven of their first round Playoff match-up Saturday night as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center; Lakers center Andrew Bynum will be haunted by the words “easy closing out” until next October. The All-Star center uttered the infamous phrase to reporters before his team took on the Nuggets in game five of the series with Los...

To Chuck Or Not To Chuck

To chuck, or not to chuck, that is the question.  At least that is the ongoing debate among the pro- and con-Kobe Bryant groups (especially in the comments section of our All-NBA Teams article).  The argument (at least for the anti-Kobe people) is that the Lakers would be a more successful team if Kobe shared the rock more often, especially with Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, two...

Not much time for Lakers to rest

The Lakers are moving on to the second round of the NBA playoffs, although they don't have much time to prepare for it. The 96-87 victory Saturday night over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of their first-round series allowed the Lakers to advance. But the Lakers face a quick turnaround before Game 1 against Oklahoma City at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday night. "We...

The Boston Celtics closed out the Atlanta Hawks Thursday, moving on to face the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. The Miami Heat also advanced to the second round to face the Indiana Pacers. LA Lakers will Take Care of Business if the Team Plays Hard.

In 1939 -when an impending showdown with the Germans on the home front was more and more likely- the British Government produced a propaganda poster that read, Keep Calm And Carry On. Symbolically, the government was preparing the nation for the horrors of war. The inhabitants of the UK were encouraged not to panic, though it was preparing for a stark time. Lakers‘ fans and players...
