The NBA All-Star weekend’s slam dunk contest is easily one of the most entertaining and anticipated events of professional basketball’s extensive season. Every year, fans hope to see something new and unique. Something that combines athleticism and originality. After all, if we expected to see the same aerial tricks, nobody would watch the contest. With so many high-flying, big-name hoopsters taking part in the dunk contest throughout its entertaining history, it begs the question, “who would be asked to perform in the Ultimate Slam Dunk Contest?” It would be a hard category to narrow down, but if I was given the commissioner’s cap to run this Ultimate Dunk Contest, these guys would be the main attraction. Julius Irving Dr. J was one of the forefathers of modernizing the game of basketball, introducing the world to a new style of play above the hoop. The 1976 ABA slam-dunk contest champion is credited with being one of the major reasons why basketball has become such an aerial game today.
